Emma - Vampires Kiss

Based on "Emma" by DavisAmerica - Jack

With Halloween marching towards us quickly, bats, vampires, goblins and all other kinds of supernatural critters fill our senses. Creepy music plays everywhere you go, halloween displays show ghoulish faces, scarred and ripped up hands. It is not hard to get into the mood.

Since Jack posted "Emma" back in April of 2008 I've been in love with the song and the melody. The lyrics are haunting and recently when Jack offered "Emma" up as a collab I jumped on it. The more I listened to it and worked with it the more halloween like it became in my mind. My biggest fear was could I do "Emma" justice? The original version by Jack is so close to perfect it is stunning. I decided I could only do my best. I hope this take on Emma is worthy.

So I changed the lyrics and modified the music slightly. The setting is based around a young girl that has fallen in love with a vampire and has accepted his "kiss". The song is sung from the aspect of a grieving lover or perhaps a father who watches as the venom consumes Emma and changes her. He suspects what has happened to her but through his grieving he realizes she made a choice. Still he questions and regrets...

Emma's definitely an amazingly strong and beautiful piece of music by Jack, and Mark, you've done it justice, reworking it into a slightly different view and singing nicely, very well done! Dani did great there adding just the right crimson touch. I will admit however, that mentioning in your description that "the song is sung from the aspect of ... a father who watches as the venom consumes Emma and changes her" well, being a father of a young woman, this sort of hit a chord and made my blood run cold... sigh... very, very well done.

emma's has turned sexy...
now you've gone and given mizz thang a dimention that makes her accessible from a different and very human perspective. i don't recall the graveling for a kiss from emma's and given what i know about vanpires and moderation, i'll bet she's kind of a slut. but no, this is not the flavor of this tune or why i'm here - i'm just being silly, of course. what stands out to me about this, Mark, is the fact that i feel like something about your arrangement has made her a bit more personable to some degree and i'm more able to sense emma's presence. but to the credit of others, it may just be that i'm getting to know her in more ways then one, i guess is the most succinct way to state that. great job. so far nobody's mangled her existence at least and everyone has enriched my knowing(s) of her. so thanks for your part sir. this is actually quite beautiful.
