Took me somewhere else &mdash 01/16/05 - 09:32:39 PM
for a few moments. Thanks for that. Good use of nat
sound. My only suggestion is to ease off the bass line a
bit, something more subtle? Nice piece. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks atwood for your comments. It does have the cinematic soundtrack
feel which is a very large and expansive canvas to create with. The bass was
an after thought but I think it adds.

Wonderful mood &mdash 01/16/05 - 11:32:07 PM
Beautifully soothing, yet something more. The use of the
sound clips is just right and gives this a cinematic feel. I
feel connected with a story, even though I don't know
what the story is, if that makes any sense.
One nit. This is not an acoustic piece, so it belongs in
another genre. Which one? I don't know. I have a hard
time categorizing music like this. But I really like it. [ Reply to This ]
Wonderful mood &mdash 01/16/05 - 11:42:43 PM
Hmmm. I double checked the genre options we have, and to my surprise,
there's not a "New Age" or "New Age Electronic" genre, only this "New Age
Acoustic" one. Funny, the vast majority of New Age music I've heard in my
life has always been heavy on the electronic side. This is also the only genre
that includes the word "Acoustic", and I hardly consider a piece "New Age"
just for being acoustic. Whatever. So long as it's good music. [ Reply to This ]

Hey thanks pgreenstone for your comments I really appreciate them! The
genres here are bit general and not specific to certain pieces of music artists
create. I would have catagorized it under easy listening, but that's just me.

Beautiful &mdash 01/17/05 - 04:18:02 PM
All the elements in this peice fit toether perfectly. It's a
wonderful moody background track that doesn't attract
too much attention to itself, but would perfectly
compliment a nice city scape video clip. It stands alone
just fine as well. The different recorded sounds create
superb imagery. [ Reply to This ]
Great Track! &mdash 01/17/05 - 06:59:45 PM
What an great textural piece of music. I love the simplicity
of the piano and strings. Well done. Nice usage of the
samples of your friends as well it adds a lot to the
atmosphere.

I loved this track. Very soothing. For some reason it made
me think of the great movie Bladerunner. Very well done. I
am so happy you kept it simple. [ Reply to This ]

You know what you guessed one of my all time favorite Sci-Fi movies. The
music by Vangelis is so deep and rich with textures. This track though is just
very simple and clean. I was impressed by its simplicity and melodic piano
that I had to share it.
Thanks for you comments

Very relaxing &mdash 01/19/05 - 03:57:09 AM
I actually lost track of what I was doing while I played this
song and stared at an animated banner for awhile,
enjoying... well, just being. That was funny and it's a
rather odd compliment, but it IS a compliment!

Thank you for listening.

Melancholy hip lush yet sparse simplicity &mdash 01/19/05 - 08:15:21 AM
Such a lush yet sparse arrangement. Sounds great. A lazy
yet hip floating journey, with melancholy and sweet
suspension all mixed in. The airplane sound is echoed by
your "shh" rhythmic sound, tying the beginning and end
together, like flying to the city (or away) and missing
wherever you came from. Great choice in drumming.
Excellent track. [ Reply to This ]
Great, but not done. &mdash 01/19/05 - 09:05:16 AM
Great mood to this piece. It reminds me of walking
through the city alone, watching the people move around
me. I wish the track didn't fade out. It makes it feel like
the idea is unfinished. Such a nice piece, I wanted it to
finish making a statement at the end. (I missed the plane
sound Tobin talked about at the end, which would do it
for me. Still didn't hear it on the second listen.) Still, I like
what is here. [ Reply to This ]
Great, but not done. &mdash 01/19/05 - 02:47:04 PM
I have always felt as an artist that I am never completetly satisfied with my
work, whether I think it is finished or not. I think... it is great to get peoples
interpetation of what this track means to them-good or bad. The comment
made by Tobin "The airplane sound is echoed by your "shh" rhythmic sound,
tying the beginning and end together, like flying to the city" that to me is
wonderful to read his minds meaning of this piece. Just like reading yours,
stating that you would of prefered the song resolve itself with an ending
statement. Both very interesting both very correct.

It would be a great feature to correct spelling and to repost the corrected
version instead of having two of the same replys. Sorry about that!

nice one &mdash 01/19/05 - 09:31:01 AM
This is a nice track...it rides the line between easy
listening and electronic...but in a good way...I think
that is due to the simplicity and moodiness. It
reminds me of Air, and their stuff is always filed
under Electronic... [ Reply to This ]
A detached sort of intimacy.... &mdash 01/19/05 - 11:55:34 PM
...about this composition that makes it an intriguing
listening experience. The city sounds draw you in to
identify and listen to the traffic noise...that conversation
going on in the background...yet the steady calm of the
instrumentals lulled me back to placid contemplation.
Nice. [ Reply to This ]
Nice. &mdash 01/20/05 - 01:12:48 AM
Slick groove man..I liked it a lot. Kinda reminds me of Sting...not sure why...but thats good!!...I wish I could do stuff this laid back..
Nice way to set a mood...I saw the city lights, at night, driving with the windows down and the system up...
Well done. :) [ Reply to This ]

Aahhhhhh.....
VERY nice, soothing track. It made me feel very relaxed,
created a good, calm and balanced state of mind.
You put together the various elements in a tasteful way;
everything fits smoothly.
I, too, have felt that the "New Age/Acoustic" category is a
bit limiting for the reasons you mentioned -- a lot of
"New Age" stuff is electronic. The second piece that I
submitted to MacJams is like that....I hesitated to place it
in the existing New Age genre because there was
NOTHING "acoustic" about it, but where else could I put it?
I suppose that your piece could also fit somewhat in the
"Ambient/Electronica" genre?
Whatever the genre designation, I enjoyed this piece very
much. [ Reply to This ]

Very dreamy &mdash 02/22/05 - 05:35:03 PM
I like this a great deal, nicely done! It is contemplative,
and draws the listener in to a little coffee shop, watching a
quiet evening drift by through a rain-streaked window...
at least to me :-) It has just a touch of longing, which is
what I think makes us want it to continue, or stop with
more completeness. Good work, neighbor, maybe we'll
meet in that little coffee shop in LA sometime!

Like a good book, I get to create the people and place and
your music tells them how to feel.
Hopefully you'll get a film scoring gig soon.
