Description:
I made this a bit repetative so that it would make good background music. I picture a very small spider, crawling down a very large and long hallway. The 'glass' in the name comes from the sound of the echoing piano (which reminds me of glass). Depending on which elements of the song your ears follow, it may or may not cause a loss in interest. Enjoy.

Hardware:
Yosemite 350, Roland XP-30

Software:
SoundMaker

emotive-and just a little sad to me. i keep wanting to
leave the obligatory 'needs a change-up or more
instruments for interest', but maybe not in this case.
you've created something very simple & honest

some ideas tho: does soundmaker allow you to pan
instruments? if so, you might try setting different tracks at
different places on the pan dial (or whatever the
controller is) for a wider soundscape. you could also try
increasing the volume near the end for a bit of a build-up
& climax

pretty stuff-didn't really feel the arachnid tho

thanks for the feedback and suggestions.

Soundmaker does allow panning and stereo effects, but it isn't as easily
achieved as w/ software nowadays... also volume control with it was difficult
(at least increasing the volume, without it being one quick switch, rather than
a gradual increase).. since it was simply editing waveforms. So anything is
'possible' but it can just be difficult.

I don't use SoundMaker anymore, at least right now.. this isn't a "new" song,
but its new in that I only recently put it up on macjams. Everything here is
years old from me, I have a few more that I will upload gradually. Anything
you see made with Soundmaker is old. My newest track will be made with
Garageband, I'll be sure to mark Garageband as software I used when that
time comes.

Good &mdash 01/17/05 - 03:27:07 PM
I like the melody in this from the piano. I agree it has
some sad feel about it and I dont 'see' your spider.. but of
course everyones interpretation of a track is different.
I also like the flute? harmonies in there. I like the choir
effect, give the track a feeling of space.
As far as production goes, I would bring those drums
right back down in the mix to accentuate the strings and
melody, rather than overpower it... but of course thats
just my opnion..
Otherwise not bad at all...
nicely arranged.

Thanks for the comments.

yes, the drums are a little overpowering... at the time of creating this it is
what I wanted. But I suppose now that I have the capabilities to control
volume better now, it might be something i'll tinker with down the road.

Okay this is why I think I see a spider --- first of all I see a large hallway
(similar to the image), and if something is going to take 4 or 5 minutes to
walk down a hallway like that, it must be small, an incect of some kind.

And something about the echoing of the piano, the way I played it (the way
my fingers moved on the keys) reminds me of a spider, mostly in the
beginning before the actual melody picks up. Hope that clears it up :)

Good concept! &mdash 02/05/05 - 09:10:25 PM
I like the image your description guides the music into
(sorry, can't think grammatically correct after 9pm). Makes
me want to make a video for it.

hey, feel free to make a video for it, that'd be cool :)
I'd like to see it.

Thanks for the comment and listen!

Lovely piece &mdash 02/25/05 - 11:32:19 AM
It has a very nice melody and a pleasantly
melancholy atmosphere. Towards the end I found
myself wanting a bit more variation (not a change of
tempo, just a bit more playing around with the
melody), but as you say, you designed it to work as
background music ... in which case it's probably fine
just as it is.
Very enjoyable, thanks.

Started out great... &mdash 02/27/05 - 11:42:23 PM
...but i felt that the drums that kicked in didn't quite
fit. I liked the melody, well played. This is a cool track
man, but imho please rework the drums (maybe in
GarageBand eh?). Can't wait to hear your new GB
creations, when are they coming?
Keep banging!
