Description
This is the second of two tracks for the Halloween Jam Spooktacular by Jack Hemby (davisamerica) and Joseph Gurner (jgurner) and featuring guest vocals by Alannah.
From Jack:
Joe's backing track arrived fully constructed kicking backsides and taking names.
While surfing the net for some new "spooky sounds" to possibly use I ran across a site that carried the alleged "news story" about a drilling crew in Siberia who "drilled into hell" and captured the sounds of tormented souls. An Urban Legend right? When Joe and I filtered the "recording" we discovered the sound was just a poorly recorded Alannah jamming with some Dead Heads. The Lady gets around.
Be forewarned the last few seconds are those mysterious "sounds" the crew picked up.
Sleep tight.
From Joe:
This one was fun because I got to channel my inner Dave Vanian and The Damned. Plus, I had to figure learn how to effectively play a C minor chord.
Again, I sent the basic track to Jack and he fleshed it out, adding some great keyboards along the way.
And I have to tell you, Alannah gets downright scary on this one, so be warned.
Lyrics and vocals - Joe
Backing vocals - Alannah
Guitars and bass - Joe
Keyboards, ambient sounds and maniacal laugh - Jack

Lyrics
Dance of the Dead
Lyrics ©2010 by Joseph Gurner
Out of my mind
Late Friday night
Run through the graveyard
looking for a fright
Under the moon
moving through the gloom
So many bodies
They spell my doom
It’s the dance
Dance of the Dead
It’s the dance,
Dance of the Dead
Move like shadows
Howl at the moon
Dance on their headstones
Dawn comes to soon
It’s the dance
Dance of the Dead
It’s the dance,
Dance of the Dead
My heart races
My eyes full of fear
I try to run
but the dead are too near
It’s the dance
Dance of the Dead
It’s the dance
Dance of the dead
