Description

Julian sent me this tune with a view to me adding whatever i liked to it. So, i remixed it adding bass, electric guitar, keys, percussion and drums.
We both agree the bass and drums need some more work. The drums are a bit too heavy i think as too is the bass following it. This has come to a point where we could do with a bit of feedback, if you can help with any ideas let us know.
The original track is called The Body of Theory. J, did all the acoustic parts, vocals and it is his sample.
Brother J has become a good friend over the process of making this tune. He is an amazing talent as you all know, if you do not then please check out his tunes, unadulterated by me.

After a few more careful listens I still think theres not to much to be tweaked. It's a very atmospheric piece. I love the guitars. Your electric work is always wicked. I'm really trying to find something to add here that may improve this.... Maybe if it were me i'd look at the each section and play around with some drum fills. That may give it a little exta something in places.

	theory oh me thinks Brother J has come to the right bloke for ambient goodness. I'd say the bass sits nicely. Its hot in the mix but to me it adds a zesty punch. Fantastic job on the guitars (both of you). They're both distinctive, separate, yet they gel nicely together in the mix. steve you don't get enough credit and exposure on here. i knew once i had this idea that the ambient groove-master was the perfect candidate to flesh it out and spice it up. what i love most about his tracks is those little haunting prairie-guitar whines he comes up with and that he seems to instinctively knows where to place in the mix.

Cool track and collab from both of you.
Especially like the electric guitars snaking around the mix and the spoken sample in the middle is a good addition.
I'm listening via my 'bass heavy' headphones and the bass does come over a touch to heavy/muddy and doesn't seem to separate itself from the bass drum which sometimes is a good thing but if their was a clearer bass sound it might compliment and give a bit more room to the separate sounds..but that's my only other comment.
Apart from that great stuff from both of you

Brilliant!!
I love this tune! Well done guys, Julian's guitar sound is apparent in this for sure, as usual his accoustic recording is high quality. The ambient sounds are really great, but I do agree that the drums and bass could back off a tad to allow the overall space of this mix to equalize a bit.
Great stuff, I would say this needs very little tweaking from here, in my ears.

Julian, is this a new direction for you? I like this trippy/experimental flipside of your folksy ballad, singer/songwriter talents. It's always fun to hear these colabs, they are always full of surprises!

	Excellent I think the drums are just right. I kind of like the bass. The bass carries the song and gives it some nice groove. This is a nice surprise coming from Julian. Well... I knew
you were doing this and had heard a previous snippet.
This sounds totally fantastic in my headphones - I don't think the drums/bass are too heavy at all. i think this is a fantastic mix. The time you must have spent mastering this also paid off big time.
Love the atmospheric guitars (beautifully recorded and played) too.
Julian's talent is never ending at the moment, he just keeps coming up with something surprising almost daily (but don't tell him I said so).
Julian is correct in saying that your talents are under-rated Steve.
Magnificent.

This sounds oh so great! I don't have any suggestions. Really. The bass heaviness gives an edge to the track. The groove is smooth and powerful.
Maybe one thing (but I had to work hard to come with this one): Julian's guitar is a little dense in the low mids and also could benefit from some extra air in the high end. But it seems you guys have something more in mind regarding production.
The vox @ 1:20 works great, specially when it comes back around 2:45 combined with the other vox line. Guitar work is top all around.
