"Being asked to be a part of the band that introduces Carrie and her voice to the rest of the MacJams community is an honor. Thanks all the way around to pros like Andy and Richard who really brought the soul; to Ryan for the stellar funk bass, to Andrew for being an intrepid leader and of course to Gaylen and Carrie ... speaking for myself, I hope this is the first song of many to feature this duo!" Mike
“It was a lot of fun adding the synth/piano parts to this. I instantly heard an Ian Drury type sleazy cool beat going on in with the guitar and drum lines so I edited the Crystal plugin from Greenoak - to create a new sound that synced up with click. On hearing the line 'dirty girls' - I felt compelled to add some minor 9th bluesy chords on the piano, in an attempt to paint a 'red light' type backdrop to the scene. The whole thing morphed gradually as new drums, sax and bass were added and it started to groove along even better. Well done guys and great vocals Carrie!” RG
“The message came in an unmarked manila envelope, while I was connecting to Wi-Fi at the nearby Five Bucks and stirring my super jumbo double chocolate espresso Caramel Frankazappa Latte (with skim milk). The 70 Family were in need of some sax tracks. "All right, Carrie71 is gonna walk the plank"! I nearly yelled out in the uptight coffee shop. The caffeinated frown on that sort of thing around here... People who have never been exposed to home brewed moonshine or Peach Squeezins and howling like a pack of coyotes in their college days. Should have lived in East Texas like I did for a while... I digress... which is another way of saying that I am getting a little annoying. Actually, it all came about in chat. Of course, I did not hesitate... It was to be Carrie's 'first' tune and who wouldn't want to be involved in that project? She was assembling some top folks and of course being a sucker for a friendly smile and not to mention all the cool comments she's left on the songs that I've played on.... I of course immediately agreed. Andrew made it painless and worked with each one of us with a diplomacy that would make Kissinger envious. When I heard Gaylen’s vocals and a quick follow of Carrie's great singing voice I knew this was to be something special. And it is. This was my first collaboration with Gaylen75 and having the opportunity to work with Richard, Mike, Andrew and Ryan again makes this all the more better. Sorry to get so wordy. I am just really excited for Carrie and it's hard to stay still about it. Thanks Karen for all the input.” Love to all, Andy
“I have so many firsts in my life. For some, they look to the big moments by which to measure. I make music for the same reason I do any of my hobbies, to make memories. This one was a memory for me. A little moment in time that I would have remembered for the space it was created. But now it is both a first "Carrie’s" and so much more. I have to thank everyone involved for this. The original song wasn’t near what this song is. I had loads of fun and distress working with my better half. Carrie put up with me and let me dictate some ideas that she brought to life with her incredible sense of humor and character. I hope we never collaborate again because I hate digging holes.” Gaylen
I can't ever imagine having more fun making music than this was. Thank you Gaylen, for bringing a great song to the project. Thank you Carrie, Gaylen, Mike, Rich, Andy, and Ryan, for bringing great performances to the project. Thank you Bryn for really bringing it home with the professional mastering you brought to the project. Most of all thank you Carrie for asking me to be a part of and showing me so much trust with your debut. I am honored! Andrew
Wow, who knew! First let me say big thank you to Andrew what an incredible job you did mixing and producing this and the time and effort he put in, your simply the bestest! Rich, hands down you blew my sock off with those funky keys and synth, outstanding. Mike supplied the drums and percussions in is usual fantastic and amazing way. Andy, Andy, Andy…I am such a huge sax fan and man you did not disappoint. Thank you for volunteering, even before I had a thought of trying to sing. Ryan Lack your funky bass was perfectly delicious and added just the right touch of funk. Andrew Sharp your help in the chorus was simply amazing! Bryn your time in mastering the track was appreciated. Karen thank you for being that extra ear and give your very respected opinion. Last but not least Gaylen, my love. Thank you for allowing me to take one of your songs and add a different flavor. Your voice does it for me every time! You are so talented, so talented. Thank you, I love you.
So, I can’t sing… after hearing Andy sing and a nudge from Charles. I went to Gaylen and said I want to do a collab. He allowed me to riffle through his collection of songs and pick the one I wanted. It had to be right for a sax part as Andy was a must. This song was the one that we both said yep. It was also a song that Gaylen felt was never done justice, I would disagree. Anyway… I asked Andrew to mix and gave him full reign. After hours of laughs, near cries and lots of retakes and a massive professional effort by all collaborators here we are and I hope you enjoy what we have created...Flaunt It

Lyrics
whatcha gettin from me
you will never know
i never promised you lies
I tried to cover your eyes
i betcha missin me
and youll never know
what your missin
im just gonna bide my time
bide my time
my time
oh yeah now
oh
you wanna party
well
we just got started
and you know what that means
you wanna find out who's to blame
for all the crazy games that we play well
lets hear it for the lover boys
get up and make some noise
now I dont wanna play with you
anymore but youll play anyway
baby you got what I need and you flaunt it
so why dont you flaunt it
maybe its just me but you got it
youve already got it
baby i got what you need and you want it
come on baby
you know that I want it
yeah
maybe its just me but youve already got it
oh but I love you anyway
so maybe you found another lover
I dont care what youve done under the covers
just wanna do what we do so damn well
wanna raise a living hell
baby you got what I need and you flaunt it
so why dont you flaunt it
maybe its just me but you got it
youve already got it
baby i got what you need and you want it
come on baby
you know that I want it
yeah
maybe its just me but youve already got it
purdy girls
girly girls
none of them dirty girls
none of them move it like I do
ill shake my ass ill shake it fine
gonna make you mine
if its the last thing i do
baby you got what I need and you flaunt it
so why dont you flaunt it
maybe its just me but you got it
youve already got it

Great to hear you :)
This is super interesting and really well done. Like a modern funk duet. Don't get many duets these days but this works really well. You have some neat vocal ideas in hear Carrie with different styles of delivery. All executed really well.
Cool work all round I say from all you dudes.
