Description
A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine, a student of Fashion Design, asked me to write something for a fashion show she and her classmates for having for "Unglist" an Icelandic arts festival, focusing on young, up-and-coming artists.
Being the nice guy that I am, I immediately said yes.
Then I realized I had never watched a fashion show, let alone listened to one, so I was really jumping in the deep end of the musical pool this time. But after a bit of research and some really helpful tips for Parichayaka I came up with this 7 minute long piece. During the show (which was last night and went great, by the way) it was then looped 5 times and I believe it was generally well received.
The hardest part for me about writing for this fashion show was the amount of restraint I had to have. I mean - I love bursting out some epic melodies with some sharp dynamic contrasts, as you might have noticed in my previous works.
In this case, that was not really an option. But ultimately I think this went pretty well - at least for a fashion show debut.
So I thought I'd share this piece of experimentation with you guys.
Just for the fun of it!
