Description
We were introduced to Nigel Hardy via Dick Langford in a ZOOM recording forum. We each had our own separate response to his piano piece without hearing the other's. After posting separate files, here's the mashup.

Lyrics
You Still Haunt Me
Marty Ross Vining
10-26-10

Fire burning on this cold night
I am silent
Watching shadows playing with the light
All my tears spent

I’m missing you
I’m missing you
I keep missing you
Ohhhhhh

Like an ever-present whisper
You still haunt me
Everything I ever wished for
Fading softly

I wanted you
I wanted you
I keep wanting you
Ohhhhhhhh

Like an ever-present whisper
You still haunt me
Ohhhhhhhh
I am grieving….

I CAN'T FIND A WAY
(Anne Cozean 2010)

I CAN'T FIND A WAY
TO MAKE THIS WORK
TO MAKE THIS PAY
IN THE COLD BRIGHT LIGHT OF DAY
WE SEEM JUST AS SAD
JUST AS GREY

IS THERE MORE THAT I COULD DO
IS IT JUST SOMEBODY NEW
IS THIS SOMETHING WE SHOULD FOLLOW THROUGH

I DON'T THINK I CAN STAY
I'VE LOST MY TRUST
I FEEL BETRAYED
THE FACTS MUST ALL BE WEIGHED
BUT THE LOVE WE HAD
FEELS THROWN AWAY

IS THERE SOMETHING I COULD DO
MAYBE YOU COULD LEAVE A CLUE
IS OUR DEMISE SIMPLY OVERDUE

I CAN'T FIND A WAY
I CRY ALL NIGHT
I CRY ALL DAY
I CAN'T FIND A WAY TO LIVE MY LIFE AGAIN
ALONE
WITHOUT YOU

NIGEL'S SONG MASHUP
Really interesting how you both chose similar themes for the lyrics although the two examine broken relationships from a different standpoint in time. Cool idea to use the mashup concept, and I'm not surprised that it works really well for these two beautiful songs.

Wow...
That so totally shouldn't work, sez my rational mind, but...weirdly, impossibly, it does...

Uncanny
Are you sure you weren't having a peak over each other's shoulders. The way these two songs intertwine in uncanny, scary even. I really enjoyed listening to the mashup. What a concept and what a fantastic outcome. Regards, Peter.

Why
doesn't MJ have an "auto-fav and comment" feature!? I'd turn it on instantly for The Sistas!!!

Love the vocal interaction... So cool how it turned out! Fantastic!

I loved both of these Anne
But the more I listen, I'm hearing a very natural sounding "mashup." Maybe it's just from you ladies sharing a common musical heartbeat, but these two tunes flow together very smoothly, and I would probably opt for the mashup than either solo. It's twice as good.

I don't know
how this works but it does. Remarkable how the melodies meld so well.

An experiment that was worth it.

Cheers

Seriously creative!
What a beautiful backing melody, and the vocal lines work well together, with some spine-chilling harmonies in there.

Mashup = an intriguing concept that shines with talent, musical intuitions, and some indefinable specialness! Thanks for posting this!
