Cold Heat w/ Unnar Osk

Description
Here is something to keep you warm on those cold winter nights. Guest vocalist Unnar Osk has leant her considerable talent to this song, providing the Nordic melodies. For my part in this duet, I kept myself out of the melody, and did what men have done for centuries, provide rhythm and bass to accent those angelic tones. Hope it lights a fire.

Glad
To hear it. Going with a guest vocalist for this comp was a step in a new direction, and I think it turned out dreamy.

Hypnotic
Was the goal. Letting it sort of fall into a trance state.

Yup .....
... definitely chilling ... yet ... hot ... nice ! The driving beat held the song .. yet I wouldnt`have minded a little change up here and there .... just to spice things up a little more ....

We wondered
About doing some transitions, but everything just seemed too overblown. We wanted to keep it simple and let the mind wander.

Hey
Feel free to mix things up with a remix, we'd love to hear some more sultriness added in. :)

Vivid imagery
Trance-like, hypnotic - all true. For me, it conjured up vivid images of a Viking burial ship gliding through the mist. The brisk ending cut the dream off though - a fade instead?

Not a bad idea
I usually like the dissonance and abruptness of a cut off, but perhaps a fade is warranted here.

you're killing me
with these incredible pieces. i've been reading Jared Diamond's book "Collapse" and this immediately put me in mind of the Greenland Norse, triumph and tragedy, hard hard work and perseverence and in the end all for naught. There is both in this piece with the steady beat, the rhythmic chant, and an overall melancholy. I imagine the last of the Greenland Vikings, singing this as they work through the cold and watch everyone around them slowly starve to death. Is that morbid? LOL...sorry, didn't mean to bring this party down. This is incredible Adam. I am so into your stuff.

Nah.
Not morbid at all, I'm so glad that this cycle of work is making such an impact. It has been a long time coming. Pairing up with Unnar on this one was the best thing I could've done. She brings a different feel entirely to the work, and balances it out. Stay tuned for more by her here. She's curious about the site.

Complex
Is nothing more than layers of simple my friend. Besides, your stuff is great, and simple sells.

Nice piece of music
very interesting piece of music,
but would need a brake,
to take away the monotonous feel in the tune.
only my thinking ;-)

Thanks
For stopping by and commenting! We wanted to keep a trance-like state going, and after some significant experimentation decided to keep it simple. Everything else we tried muddied up the waters too much.

the ambient mind wanders
floating across centuries of love, war, and just being human. very enchanting choices of singing here.
