Description
This started as another attempt at something which it's not, by laying down two tracks each playing an Electronic Drum Beat loop (a different one each): they open the first 4 measures until the bass comes in. On this tune, I didn't want a simple, extended bass line so I used one Funky Muted Bass loop and modified it into the 5 or 6 variants you hear. The synth pad in the first half is Analog Pad with the Atmo Pad 3 preset, Stereo Chorus and Ambience AUs with manual settings added. In the second half this plays behind a Hybrid Basic synth with manual settings and a few effects added, which plays a midi melody of mine, and which is only slightly less simple than the chords used for the pads. Whatever, I think it turned out okay.

The track seems pretty perfect to me, especially since you gave the details of how you put this together.
The picture sets off the tune very well.
