Description:
The song is a collaboration with Iseae. She came up with the vocal and I built a song around it using guitars and keys and a bunch of GB instruments and a Drums on Demand drum track. Iseae's lyrics have to do with two women sharing one man. I don't think it's all that comfortable for either. I tried to maintain the sense of unease in the music. There's 13 tracks. Let me know what you think. I have to thank Leila a lot for coming up with this originally and allowing me to more or less run with it.

Lyrics:
She walks along the path
you are seen taking
and she holds your hand
while you take her
from the orchard of her mind

I watched as you lay sleeping tonight
As you walked away from me

She walks like angels in the morning light
sheltering you
from heaven
from heaven

she is watching you
ah-uh
she is watching you

She walks along the path you are seen taking...
She is watching you....

Hardware:
Kurzweil KME-61, Standard Strat, Harmony lap steel guitar, Peavey Delta blues amp, NT-1000, Behringer mixer, US-122, eMac

Software:
GB, Drums on Demand

Really Good &mdash 01/19/05 - 03:35:06 PM
I love your haunting style. A little Twin Peaks in flavor.
Everything sounds really good in the mix but, perhaps, it
would be better if she sounded closer.

I actually doubled her vocal track and boosted both of them to try and fatten
it up some. I wanted to keep it sort of clean, though. There is a bit of reverb
that might make them seem distant. I'll try something else on that.
Thanks for listening and commenting!

I don't know what &mdash 01/19/05 - 04:44:00 PM
Iseae gave you to work with but you did a great job
building around her vocals, which I always love.

I don't know what &mdash 01/19/05 - 09:01:20 PM
Iseae had recorded the vocal track and a couple tracks of piano/string
comping and bass and a drum loop, but I ended up not using anything but
the vocal. The guitar chord changes I came up with along with her vocal
called for something else. I really like Iseae's voice too, and working on this
was a pleasure because I got to listen to her sing over and over and over!
Thanks for the comment!

Wow &mdash 01/19/05 - 04:44:49 PM
I really enjoyed the downtempo feel and the vocals were
just right. Very eternal and eriee at the same time. The
guitar part was very cool I too thought the chord were
pretty cool. The twin peaks reference was on the mark
they used song like this all the time very cool guys.

Really cool guitar textures! Zepplin-esque at times. Your work on that lap guitar adds just the right emotive character and the subtle synth brings it right on home. I was hoping you'd take more liberties with the middle-eight because you really whet my appetite for a dense exploration of the dual-guitar theme.

Iseae, super vocals! Sultry and contemplative. I'd love to hear them advance, recede, and intermingle with the guitar a little. Maybe with some background vocalizations?

Really cool collab, guys! &mdash 01/20/05 - 10:25:07 AM
The music sounds like a dream sequence from a
psychadelic western movie or something... I always
love Iseae's singing, but the music here brings her
down an intruiging new path. Great work! I can't
vote right now, but if I could there would be high
marks!

High notes... &mdash 01/21/05 - 05:49:11 PM
have amazing clarity. There is so much cool stuff going on
musically in this piece. Very, very smooth! Nice prolonged
fade at the end.

Chris Isaak &mdash 01/21/05 - 10:03:42 PM
I was trying to think of his name and it finally came to me.
There is a Chris Isaak sound, especially with the guitar.
Even with the female voice there is that haunting feeling
there.

Nice job!

Great Job &mdash 04/06/08 - 03:39:45 PM
Very Haunting, which matches the lyrics perfectly. To me the lyrics are more like a stalker watching a couple.

I think I may leave the light on tonight!

Who is Iseae and is she still around? I'll have to check.

Great job thanks for the tip on the forum.

Iseae &mdash 05/22/08 - 08:56:59 AM
She was somewhat active at MacJams long ago, in the early years, but she deleted most of her songs and I haven't had any contact with her for years. She is Canadian in origin and at the time we collaborated was living in Germany because her husband was in the service, having had been in Iraq on a couple tours. I haven't had any contact with Iseae for years, and I believe she and her husband have split up badly(postings on his website speak to that). She had a lot more songs on her page, but most of them have been deleted. We collaborated on 3 songs, one which is still on her page, "Vicky's Song", this song, and a song called "Memories". I wish we'd done more songs together as she was pretty easy to work with.

tsada &mdash 06/05/08 - 08:33:49 AM
I found this song searching "chris isaak" indeed there is a isaakish like spice in here, wicked game type of tempo. Nicely mixed. I love it. Blues, slow, with great vocals from Iseae. I tried searching her in the net, but alas, no more updates about her. She is really gifted girl.
