O Mio Babbino Caro

Description
I think most people know this one, it's a soprano aria from Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi". I'm a mezzo-soprano so this was a bit of a stretch!!

Puccini
I can definitely hear that you are mezzo--rich, round, full, gorgeous, slightly dark (or so it seems to me) tone!!! Nonetheless, you float the high notes effortlessly and beautifully. What an instrument you've been blessed with! So well-controlled, yet very free at the same time. Very much looking forward to your future contributions. Welcome! :)

Exquisite
Very nice rich tone to your voice, and although this is one of those well-recognized "war-horses", you treated it with tender warmth. The music backs you up nicely, and is well mixed. So very refreshing to have you singing in our midst, welcome!

SO nice!
A warhorse, hehe. Definitely a classic, and those are often the hardest to do right. Very well done. As far as your performance goes, top notch. My only critique is the room sound that your mic is picking up. However, for us basement musicians, it's a tough one to fix, and this would work brilliantly for a pre-studio demo. Spot on!

Mosaica said 2495 days ago (December 23rd, 2010)
Mic
Yes, the mic noise is one of my great frustrations, sometimes a vocal track will have a high pitched oscillating whistle on it, and other times not. Haven't been able to work out whether it's the connection (it's a jack not a USB), the quality of the cord, or the quality of the mic. If the backing track is loud enough it usually masks it, but other times it's an irritation.

Opera
at MacJams! There isn't a lot here. A great performance and I hope you'll be putting up some more. How about something from Lakmé?

Lakme
I'd love to do the Flower Duet from Lakme (I can sing both parts) but I don't have a license for the music accompaniment I have, so would have to find a muso to provide it. A piano would do, doesn't have to be full blown orchestra! Perhaps I'll put out an "ask" on the forums. Thanks.

Rosalind,
Wow, you have some wonderful voice. I hope your time here at Mj is as great as mine. Thanks for submitting this and giving us a teaser of what we can expect. I would love to do more opera singing, but alas, I am not trained and my voice is woefully out of condition. This piece has inspired me though to go back and work on my unfinished version of "E Luchevan le Stelle". I would love to hear more of your wonderful voice.

When I played you just there , the activity in the room stopped as you held us with your voice until the end of the song and then the noise returned back to normal. :-) Well done.

My Goodness!
I LOVE your voice! Very beautiful performance, very emotional. This is, I think, the first operatic aria I have heard here at MacJams, but I really hope it's not the last... Please share more of your wonderful performances with us! I posted a song I wrote for classical soprano (well, mezzo, actually) and chamber ensemble here a few years ago, called Song of Songs (http://www.macjams.com/song/23589), in case you want to have a listen.

I love your voice
this is a beautiful recording of one of my favourite pieces. A friend of mine directed me here after hearing an instumental version of this which we recorded at a rehearsal several years ago just using a clarinet and keyboard. If only you'd been there! It's not as good as yours of course but if you want to hear it here is the link.
