Description
We have all finished our dinner. Its cold outside. Lets sit down around the fire. Karen is going to open the piano and I am turning on the theremin to let the valves warm up. We are going to play you a song...

This is Lamtumirë, a version of Magnatone's beautiful solo piano piece that can be heard here http://macjams.com/song/64955

Before we play for you, I would just like to say that it is OK to be sad when you say goodbye. It is ok to cry. It is important that you let those you love know that you love them in the 'here and now' and to focus on the good things that make them special.

I would like to dedicate this song to my daughter Rachel who has been spending time with me for the last month here in Arizona and returns to England the day after Christmas, and to my wife Lisa who is wonderful.

Also - Karen...thank you for making and sharing this beautiful music and thank you for letting me play with it

So...as we all stare into the flickering fire and listen to the theremin sing its electronic song from the ether...Merry Christmas to all of you

What majesty and beauty - really
this is such a great meeting of two of my favorite people anywhere. Gorgeous atmosphere and a wonderful piece of music from Karen at it's heart. We are all very graced by the gift of music - given so generously. I have much to be thankful for.

warmth
the rich chocolatey goodness of Karen's piano music (made even more chocolatey with your temporal stretching) and the theremin wafting slowly through the icicles outside makes the fireplace even more inviting... thank you for the gentle music, both of you, and happy holidays!

Lamtumire
Bryn - what a wonderful surprise to see this here today! I love the final version you've arrived at, it's just so cool slowed down and with the theremin. I am very very honored that you would want to "play" with anything of mine, and I am especially thrilled and delighted with this. The creativity that flows out of that brain of yours is often jaw-dropping to me. Sometimes I listen to one of your "experiments" and think "I actually KNOW this guy!!" So I'm having that feeling big time right now as I listen to this - thank you, and very happy holidays!

karen
i have always wanted to do something with one of your pieces since i first heard you and i told you that you reminded me of the divine comedy
now this is nothing like the divine comedy, but i am extremely proud of the sound we achieved on this extremely evocative piece, even though it was basically an 'accidental collaboration' as opposed to a planned one.

your original piece is fantastic and i too feel honoured that you let me alter it like this with my icy electronic soundscapes

thank you

This is amazing, Bryn
Before I go and check out Karen's original I must congratulate you on such a lovely mood and sentiment, Bryn. I can hear your production touches all over this. It is a far better setting for christmas than any mariah carey, celine dion, or even enya christmas album. It captures a 'grateful' mood, if that makes any sense. the theremin is such an expressive instrument - I must get one! anyway, thanks for the DL.

Bryn,
The warmth of Karen's fire, the icy darkness of your Theremin, and its a real grabber. Very melancholic and evocative of the stark beauty of Winter. I am watching a late afternoon winter sunset over the western woods as I listen. The ice and snow contrasted against the waning light on the naked trees is much in synch with the mood of this one.

the Thermin a quirk of science turned into such a interesting musical instrument. I also love what you have done with the piano. Makes the whole track fell ethereal.

reminds me of exactly what vic said, lol. I guess you were sending out the signal loud and clear. I see snow falling outside the windows too though. This is really nice with the theremin in there. Really peaceful and relaxing, great work here . Sounds awesome.

Magic
The earthy, majestic melancholy of the piano and the delicate, gossamer touches of the theremin are like spirits in the winter's forest, stark trees and star lit skies of endless night above a frozen lake of stillness.

No picture can capture this feeling, no painting, no photograph, no image of any kind. Only music can bring you there, and this piece does...
