Description
I forgot to up-load this one. I been reading up on mixing and mastering and this is my first attempt at some of the things I learned. I am quite happy with the mix since the previous mix was very muddy. However I don't like this version of the song. If I could have captured the 1st iteration of the "Off the cuff" version I would be much happier. It changed quite a bit in its over all feel. Perhaps I'll try again.

Lyrics
They take you down n rip you up n cast you over the wall
And knock you down 'cuz they don't give a rut what
anyone thinks at all
their comin' to town their gonna knock you down
their gonna waste you all around
but dont you worry
'cuz I'll be here to save you fo you down.

They talk about all their virtuous ways
but they ain't got none I can see
They leap up loud an boisterous when
their taking it to the street
But anybody can tell
when they look them in the eye
Their nasty so called good ol boys
who wont stop if you cry

chorus:

But I know you
wont let them do those
things to you no you
wont let them get their way

They talk about all their good deeds
They did for dear old mom
and how much they were their mama's
favorite son
You know their wrong
you know by now and
you can take it from me
Dont you listen to their talk
'cuz it's just didily

Chorus

Musical interlude

Mothers you better
hide your girls
you better get them out of the way
for these people here
are coming to town
to take your daughters away
Then they'll do those things to
your daughters you don't like
Things you feared as they were
growing up all their lives.

Chorus

I appreciate your comment. I must give credit to EzDrummer for the snare. Makes life simple when your not a drummer.

Nice hot mix
Clean, good balance of bass, presence, and sparkle. Vocals clear & easy to understand. I'd say you're mastering mastering. The song sounds fine to me, but I don't have another performance to compare with.

Great song!
I like how you imbued a sense of "quiet attitude" in your vocal's inflections and intonation (not an easy thing to do and it came off effortlessly here). You always do great stuff--this was solid Neal! As for the mix--this is a small gripe but I thought it was too loud (but that's a non-issue as that is what the volume control is for--it did. In fact, it opened my eyes, so that was good too!) Thanks again for putting in the hard work and the excellent results you share with us and best wishes to you and yours this New Year, Michael

Michael
Thanks for the great comments and I agree, much too loud! I have always struggled with too wimpy of a mix before but after posting this and listening to it I can hear that its being over-driven and then distorted in spots. Even though the meters didn't go into the red the track is still too saturated. I hope I didn't blow any ears!!

No worries!
I myself wonder sometimes when I slap something up "Is this going to be loud enough or what?" At the same time, we always are defaulted to the highest volume on the players on any of these sites, and you forget sometimes that at home, we NEVER have our knobs turned up that high on our sound systems (unless you want to blow out a speaker!) Glad you mentioned that Neal--that's a thing that's always plagued me too! Keep up the great work and hope you have a scintillating weekend! MJK

Nice bouncy ...
country style toe tapper...sort of in a "The Gambler" style....Kenny Rogers was it not...I like this ...no freshness lost on me ,bvut I do know what you mean,I often prefer the original raw "live" feel of a first take...warts and all.

Cheers

Happy New Year

I know you
Good storytelling. Vocals have a ton of personality which really sells the song. Each of the elements in the mix stands out really well, I'd say the effort spent mixing and mastering was well worth it.

clean mix
Hey, this sounds really nice. Crystal clear, the vocals intelligible over the backing, and the backing still defined. Bit loud though.

Cool song too.

Got the Great old time Country Feel
Love the music bed you put down here. Some really great production values here for sure, especially on the guitar work.

I think the vocal it a tad too high in the mix but that's just me spouting off, pay no attention to it.

Nice Good ole Country song ya got here my friend.
