Description
Last March I posted Confluence.
As with every other orchestration I’ve done, it began its life first as a complete piano piece, and I recently decided to redo the piano as a first real test drive of my Christmas upgrade to Ivory 2. Although I already had the Ivory 1 software at the time I was working on the original “Confluence”, I was still using GB and at that time was trying the Miroslav Orchestral software for the first time. Those 2 things didn’t turn out to play well together, and I was having all kinds of crazy crashing catastrophes (CCC's) which made me afraid to try adding Ivory 1 to that file. So I settled for playing the original piano track using the JP Orchestra Steinway instrument. (Ironically, it was all that crashing trouble that finally made me take the jump to Logic, so I guess something good came out of it.) (maybe)
Many thanks to Mike (kevmikwa) and Paul (Paul F. Page) for the nudges to upgrade to Ivory 2 – I’m pretty thrilled with it and there are some very cool new capabilities and pianos to get to know better. For those interested in the details, this is the mighty German Concert D Grand II piano - full stick, activated half pedaling, and a bit of adjustment to the velocity map curve (to get the most out of my pounding). (Sorry mom).
I’ve had a great time working on this the past couple of weeks, and admit to having gleefully succumbed to OCTD (Obsessive Compulsive Tweak Disorder). Thanks to Shay (kassia) and Andrew (alackbass) for the feedback along the way of this little piano odyssey. Hope you enjoy this bare bones version!
