Description

This is a tribute to my old band. We were called The Bawg. It originally stood for Baker, Aasheim, Walker and Griffin, but after a show some guy in the crowd asked if it stood for the Black and White Guys. After that the new name stuck with us.

It was a real honor to play with these guys. They were all really talented musicians. Plus, we all had similar direction. After being together for six years we got pretty tight.

This song is done in the style of my old band.

The other day some guy was complaining about his wife. I thought geez, why do you stay with her if she's such a beast? Anyway, it was good material for this song.

190 bpm and a whole lotta guitar stuff.

Anyway... wow! What a cracking song. Them wimmen are great subject matter for all their features and flaws, aren't they? Really enjoyed the performance of this and would love to hear a bit more in that style. Your band must have been awesome if it was stuff like this! 	Thanks man Yep, that is my old band. I'm the one closest to the black concrete block. I think that a lot of practice in programming drums is paying off and I'm starting to be able to open things up a bit. However, I still do have a long way to go. Whole lotta guitar stuff
It finally hit me. Your vocal style is a lot like Rob Zombie. Listen to White Zombie? The chug (like 1:03) sounds great --- your voice sounds great against that kinda groove. More of that please. Well, wowza -- what a production. Your best so far --- OK, my favorite of yours, so far --- in my humble O. Dynamic and lots of nice changeups. Great ending. Kitties and puppies --- yeah!

for having a listen. One thing I'm noticing is that I have so many tubes in line that I'm getting too much of a glassy feel in my recordings. I may have to get a non-tube mic for future recordings.

Yeah, I really like Rob Zombie's stuff. I hung out with the members of White Zombie and Prong at a club many years ago. Their show got cancelled and they wound up hanging out at one of the local rock clubs. That was fun. All of them were really cool; they gave me a bunch of Prong and White Zombie fan club stuff. We never got to open up for White Zombie but we eventually got to open up for Prong.

for the kind comments. It was nice being in a band with the same direction. I was in several bands where each member wanted something completely different and it just didn't work. One thing that was also interesting about this band is that we always played the song the same every time. It never varied and there was never any artistic license. We kept it very consistent so that we were absolutely tight in our playing. We actually took a lot of pride in that.

Man we played out a bunch. There was a point where we played out about three nights a week or more. It became like a part time job. However, we did open up for a lot of bands that were my heros which made the whole thing worth it.

That would be fun
I know the drummer and bass player still play out live in other bands now. My other guitarist though has vanished from the face of the earth.

The drums are getting more coherent as time goes on. The only thing that really bugs me about Reasons drum computer is that the selection of snare drums just doesn't have the one I want. Also, the toms could sound a bit richer. I eq them and mess with them to try and get that sound but I just can't get it. Maybe the newest upgrade will be better.

intro hook, I love the rumbleing quality to the bass licks at about 2:16, lots of crazy guitar chops in this jam too. I have an advantage over other MJ'ers having heard a whole cd's worth of "The Bawg". These guys were a cool band, they had some funky hard mahem sound, clever hooky lyrics, and Mike's dangerous guitar talents rounded it out nicely.

mike you are relentless....relentlessly filling the cyber airways with your particular brand of teenage-angst-thrash-grunge-punk-rock. whilst i absolutely detest this kind of stuff, i have to compliment you on your instrumentation, mixing and production skills. i really liked the stop at 2.12, the little drum fill and then the vocal section with less going on behind it. cute little squeak at the end too. you rock mike...there's no getting away from that.

The Fast One's Back in Town!
Boy, this rocks buster! Very strong stuff and yanno Mike, your vocals are so clear and well delivered I never needed to read the lyrics (singing in that style--I know--it's not an easy accomplishment to produce good diction all the time, but you did it--excellent work!) The first chorus was great, the second chorus elevated this up even further (loved that break and how you got into it). How the hell do you do all this stuff? What a production! Sheesh!
