"When I Survey The Wond'rous Cross" - 3 Settings

Description
This simple, but well-known hymn tune derives from an old chant melody, or "cantus firmus." Here I have arranged three settings for SATB recorder quartet. There is also a two-fold 'amen' at the end for closure. The first setting is very straightforward and homophonic with the melody in the soprano part - just like you'd find in any hymnal. The other two, however, are more elaborate. Characteristic of many Renaissance hymn-settings, the melody does not stay in one voice, but migrates around through the different voices until finally arriving [rather triumphantly, I might add] back in the soprano.
Enjoy!!

Hi, Brandon
Another impressive and harmonious arrangement of woodwind sounds, as usual conforming to my ear to an excellent standard, as if blown for a king, or performed in a great lord's hall at the very least.

Very much enjoyed.
