Thanks bloke. I had thought about adding a bunch of overlapping, increasingly complex harmonies on the "rain down" section, but at the last minute decided against it. Good thought about the "soldier" word drawn out. I think I agree with you. Always happy to hear real criticism, rather than just the sunshine, so keep it up, it makes me think about new approaches. I tried to keep it spare, which is always very hard to do in this world of unlimited tracks. I have to say the solo was comped to death. I LOVE Logic Pro's new comping tool. It's a life - and time -saver. You can really experiment with different versions and many times come up with something you might not have strung together naturally.

It is always a struggle to get the mix so it sounds right in cans as well as on speakers. Lots of decisions to be made. Cans can be very deceiving when it comes to discerning instrument "proximity". I actually started this song with a simple piano melody line that went along with the rhythm guitar, then I sang to the melody line, then I deleted the piano part in the main section. Well, to begin with, I'm one of those who isn't into lyrics much, unless of course they are too powerful to overlook. That is the case in this instance. You've painted a vivid, yet dark, lyrical image that really does a great job of conveying the emotion.

As for the song itself, it's very well written and has an easy (lazy) vibe, which leaves room for the listener to get lost in their thoughts.

Finally, your production is crystal clear. I only wish I could track and produce an acoustic guitar that clearly. Your reverbs are very tasteful and the mix is great.

I very muched enjoyed the listen; thanks for posting.

First of all I liked how you dealt with the whole Lady Gaga thread. Well done. I kept the f out of it, no need to have another comment in that sh*t storm. But you get props from me for your part.

Secondly, on the guitar, just so you know how it was tracked: I have a Taylor 814ce acoustic with the stock internal "Expression Pickup System". I ran one track DI from the internal pickup and I ran another track from a RODE NT 2000 condenser mic placed about 5 inches from the 12th fret. Then I mixed the inputs between them til I had what I liked. It's a good system I've found. You can trcak it once, but get freedom to adjust the sound from "clean" to "open room live" in the mix.
