Description

Punjabi trip hop.- An artist here on Macjams named DJBageltogo(http://www.macjams.com/artist/bageltogo) did a remix of a recording of Punjabi folk music by Lal Chand Yamla Jat and offered to send the track and stems to any one wanting to take it a step farther. I couldnt resist. I chopped,stretched and fried all the original ingredients he sent me. This is the result. Many thanks to DJBageltogo

I believe this song is still performed and recorded by Indian artists. I couldnt find a translation of the lyrics.

Lal Chand Yamla Jat / Jatt ( March 28, 1914 - December 20, 1991 ) was a renowned Punjabi folk-singer from Punjab, India popularly known was "Ustad Ji". He was the doyen of the Punjabi Music and first singer that comes to mind who laid foundation of Punjabi music in Indian Punjab.

Hop on this Trip
This is a heavy duty tune. I'm not familiar with the original folk tune. Is it even recognizable after all your tweaking? In any case this is solid. The production and mix are Aces. Funny how haunting certain cultural music sounds yet may be totally normal to the intended culture. Is this how heavy metal or blistering electronic sounds to local asia. So interesting to listen too, I wouldn't know where to start given the task of composing this. Nice!
