Description
BOB (5 Extra Arms) played: synths, acoustic drums, bass
M2 played: synths, vox, electronic drums, piano, samples, delays
Bob sent me a track a couple of weeks ago and wasn't sure what to do with it, and i really loved it as soon as I heard it. Bob's a real happy go lucky guy (and I can be a little melancholy), so the first thing I did was emphasize the minor chords (his original was more happy sounding).
Threw some instruments on and didn't have a chance to play with it for a week or so. Had a little time this afternoon so I did the vocals and decided it was done. Really the only crafty things I did on this were I used a vocal snippet as a pad sound, and I didn't use any reverb (just delay).
This song is less than 2 minutes long and I pictured it not as a "single" but as one of the transitional songs you'd find buried in an album. Those are typically my favorite songs. They can be to set a mood, tell a story, etc...
It is also pretty much a wear your influences on your sleeve kind of track, but the whole object was to have some fun. Mission accomplished.
It's a song about unrequited love. Hopefully BOB will chime in with one of his cool mental images that tie the story together.
