Description
This tune is a sketch, intended to be built on, reinterpreted, redone or contributed to by anyone with the inclination. This is my first song post. I kept 'waiting' until I thought I had something 'more worthy,' and we know how that story ends.. but... hey.... I've lurked around on the site for awhile and there's a constructive vibe here that I trust, respect and know I can benefit from hanging out with more. Also.. it's under two minutes.

Drops of rain
Really nice tune with loads of potential. The guitars work well in tandem, would love to hear a vocal. A little bit messy at the end, but all in all a good tune well done

island vibes
There is a gentle lounging pace to the composition, that suggests we stop and smell the humid fragrant air and open an eye from time to time from our swinging hammock. However, there is a sharpness to the texture of the electric guitar recording that gives a bit of anxious edge. These tend to contrast and confuse a bit. The guitar playing, with the little bends here and there is very nice. It would indeed benefit from some collaborative fun, and is worth it.

Drops of Rain
Greg, this is a wonderful start. The solo guitar sound is nice and clear... well done. I can really imagine this with some beautiful vocals as well:) Good job and keep up the good work.

thank you
I'm grateful for the encouragement, Iholden. It's a first step and I'll have to keep peeling away the layers - and listen to, feel and learn from thoughtful comments like yours. Good wishes!

Drops of Rain
I like the progression, and the picked guitar is playing a melody line that makes sense to me. Seems likes it fits into a traditional AAA pattern with the refrain on the end, so it could work for that type of song

Thanks
Thanks, dave_b for listening. I checked out your tune, and its previous version. You words draw a vivid, meaningful portrait. I'm honored for the stop by.

Vibrant!
I got a very tranquil and happy feeling listening to this Greg (I think it's one of the rare times when the music and the artwork are happily married). Your rhythmic accompaniment to the melody line is just beautiful--gives this a true sense of movement and expectancy that is hard to describe. Ya done great!

your words are appreciated
Thanks for listening and the comments, Michael. You use the word 'expectancy.' I expect someday to redo, and improve on this, gaining the experience, and trying to pick up tidbits (slow learning curve here..) from listening to and learning from talented, unaffected artists like yourself.

Double rainbow guitar
I like your guitars in this song. The parts you have already laid down will be the foundation of a nice song as you keep building this out. Have you tried any percussion tracks?

thanks for the download :)

thanks for checking it out
You caught the double rainbow! 'Foundation' is a good word for this tune. Haven't tried percussion yet, and appreciate your suggestion. Download of ' I Remember the Way' adds a great spice to my collection of MJ tunes - which is basically all I'm listening to presently.

Nice start here
Great first post here. Love the laid back feel and how you mix it up and explore the neck of the guitar on this.

The main suggestion that I think can help your sound is to narrow the stereo field a bit (it may be chorus causing it, hard to tell), cut the low mids and low frequencies and for effects, only use a nice airy reverb (for GB use the AUMatrixReverb not the slider bar reverb). This will give you a nice clear sound. I like the feel of this piece. Welcome to MJ!!

Thanks for the constructive input. The "nice clear sound" (heard it in 'Know Me') you mention, is a sound I aspire to. I've written down your suggestions to get familiar with. Thanks!

You have
a happy go lucky vibe going on. A nice little lyric telling a story or revealing some thoughts would work. Thanks.

Drops of Rain
The title is true to the style of the music - I like the way you get interplay between the guitars. The melody is certainly a pleasant rolling one that could sustain a vocal. And you're right to take a "ready, fire, aim" approach - we're all learning as we try things!

Tone is good
You get a nice innovative sound on the rhythm guitar and then a sweet realistic tone on the lead. Makes for a good contrast. Just came here after your post on my song. When I run into someone new I like to hear all their stuff so I will be working my way up from your first. Good start here!
