I'll Never Stop Crying

Description
I had the idea to write a song about someone who couldn't stop crying. His tears would turn to rivers, seas and rain clouds, which would then rain over him. Hopefully it's apparent that although it sounds a bit serious and dark, it's at least partially tongue-in-cheek.

I tried a few different arrangements for this, but in the end I liked this sort of psuedo Joy Division sound the most. It just "pops" in a way that the other versions didn't.

I'm also hoping to get some opinions on my choice of lyrics. There's one couplet in the song that goes "And now I'm soaking to the bone / My cup of sorrow overflows". I had an alternative pair of lines that went "And now my clothes are soaking wet / All of my hope turned to regret". Do you think I chose the better lines? I think it's better to go with a metaphor (ie cup of sorrow), though I do like that discarded line too. I couldn't fit it in otherwise without writing another verse, but I don't think the song needs another one of those.

Lyrics
There was a time
There was a place
Much better than this
Much better than this

And you were there
But now you're nowhere
You left me alone
My melancholy enthroned

All of my days turned into night
All of my songbirds taken flight

Oh I...
I'll never stop crying
I'll never stop crying over you
I'll never stop crying

What can I do
But stand here and cry
In a world full of shadow
Hands over my eyes

My tears flow like rivers
The rivers become a sea
The sea becomes rain clouds
That hang over me

And now I'm soaking to the bone
My cup of sorrow overflows

Oh I...
I'll never stop crying
I'll never stop crying over you
I'll never stop crying

All of my rights turned into wrongs
All of my turtle doves black swans

Oh I...
I'll never stop crying
I'll never stop crying over you
I'll never stop crying
