I Will Be Your Alien

Description
i was fooling around with the nlog synth on my ipod and came up with the chord pattern for this. the synth i used here was quite a bit different from the nlog's. but it was a good way to get a kick start on a new song at least.

Lyrics
I Will Be Your Alien

set a ring of fire to guide me in
i'll be looking down
i'll be looking in
i will be coming for you sometime soon
i will show you things that you have never seen before
and the stars are reaching out for you

i will be your alien
somethings i don't understand
where do we begin
i will be your alien
i will be your second skin
i will be your alien

i grow so tired of the cold in the void of space
just to feel the heat on my alien face
i will be staring into outer space
and i know that life is strange and when you try to rearrange
and the stars are reaching out for you

i will be your alien
somethings i don't understand
where do we begin
i will be your alien
i will be your second skin
i will be your alien

we will be leaving soon up through the skies
when you return home left there alone
i will leave a wishing star for you to find at night
you will be wondering at the attraction of the nightly sky
and the stars are reaching out for you

i will be your alien
somethings i don't understand
where do we begin
i will be your alien
i will be your second skin
i will be your alien

Every
great lead has that one note that just stands out because it's so tasty. That one at 2:35 is awesome!

Very cool song. Totally killer lead.

Nice one Vic!

Love the way
you've been utilizing synths more and more in your work - adding more color. I remember when you did it all with guitars - and that was cool too - but you've added another tool to your belt and you're using it well. Classic Abbey Road guitar tone under the lead - excellent.

Thanks Kevin
I've used synths more in the background of a lot of stuff, but true, I'm trying to work them in as more of a dominate part when applicable. of course it helps if i original the song on a keyboard in the first place i guess

Very cool, Vic
Love the whole thing, but most of all the way you integrated the synths and guitar. Vox is very cool and the lyrics just seem to work for this song.

Great job Vic, it's a keeper

when it came time for lyrics, i always leave that last usually without any idea. alot of times i'll just set the vocal track up and ad lib stuff until something comes up. somehow the theme seemed right i thought as well

damn
this is so good. that build up before the chorus is so nice (like the reverse vox too). solo is frikking drop dead cool, and the leslie behind it is genius. really nice track Vic.

originally the leslie effect guitar was in other places but in the end i took them out. for the solo background it gave it a edge to contour the distorted guitar i though

Nice mix of great guitar and synth tones! Very good melody. It will be stuck in my head long after the tune ends! I'm with Bub hearing the Abby Road echos during the solo!

the solo section i thought has a "she's so heavy" kind of vibe, for a minute i was thinking of adding more and more guitar tracks and built it up like the beatles did, then i thought na, to much work

Clean sound Vic
I haven't really listened to much at MJ lately, so my ears are still pretty acute. This is so clean across all instruments. Your vocals seem clearer than I remember from earlier posts. All in all, a cool song with great playing and production. So, I guess not that much has changed here :)

i took last week off from listening to any music. i just felt oversaturated. so when i came back to finishing this song off it sure helped in hearing the mixing better to me as well.

two things about the main vocal. no reverb, totally dry and being a usually lazy singer i did a hard enunciation on the words as much as i could

whoa
This is TOPS. Love that 'i will be your alien' line. Anthemic. The synths set me back at first, wasn't expecting them, but they're perfect. And man this is produced so well, jeesh, every sound is nestled in there just right. And the solo just screams. Really like it, i'll be looking forward to this coming around the ipod dude.

Alien
repost.
Interesting dichotomy between the synths and the distorted guitars. Clean and floating vocals, great stereo delay for spread, but maybe a bit (just a little) of reverb on them? Cool lyrics. Love the wacky off kilter guitar lead and synth lead-in to it at 2:00. Pro mix as usual. Nice one Vic!

Very Nice____
I like the reverse swells you use to initiate some lyric parts – I know that was a challenge – In fact I hear several challenges in this mix that I believe you pulled off very well. (Like the swells leading into the chorus, the detuned instruments, etc…) All done well - Including your playing. Nice song.

Very nice job Vic.

Enjoyed - Thanks for sharing,
