Description

Here's a song written in 1926 by Niccolo Paganini and Giuseppe Verdi (you might know him better for his movie scores under the name "Joe Green"). Thanks for listening and hope the coming weeks brings little cartoon bluebirds landing on your shoulder as you sing some Disney song of some kind.

"Bye Bye Blackbird" was written by Ray Henderson & Mort Dixon in 1925 (PD)

Accompaniment and arrangement written and performed by Alan McPike
Vocal: MJK and some testy bird (I don't think it was really an actual blackbird either--I think it was some common variety bird that painted itself black just to get on this)

I love this classic and your wonderful performance goes well beyond doing it justice! I've told you before I love these tracks you're posting where you sing to a piano trio. The big band stuff is great. I just prefer the intimacy of the combo. And Alan's solo chorus is great! Nice mix Michael. Crisp and clear with great balance!

I'm trying a new approach with the mixing, making the vox 50/50 on each side and then the musical accompaniment at 100%. There's nothing like a bit of MJK to give me a smirk. When I was a kid, dragged out to the opera with my parents (OK, actually I loved going), my dad would often refer to the great "Joe Green" too, the guy who wrote tunes you could hum afterwards. Your reference brought back warm memories. Great musical accompaniment as always, and your singing is sublime (ew, who's gonna clean that up now?)

I guess it's just that super-duper serious stuff never has greatly appealed to me--there's enough of that in the world without spending time revisiting it in music (although I certainly appreciate good music of any kind, don't get the wrong idea!). What I do is probably just an extension of my character I guess (I take very few things THAT seriously--I mean, why bother, yanno?) Hey my friend--I'm glad you liked the artwork; I worked a bit on cleaning that up a bit, so that really pleases me! Well, I have to tell you (and give me credit here), poking a bird in the yes is EXTREMELY difficult, because their eyes are placed on each side of their heads, yanno (same applies to poking a fish in the yes, although flounders are a bit easier). I had to utilize the two-handed index finger eye poke on that varmint--not especially easy, let me tell you. OOh yeh....
tried to jam along to this on guitar.......am now typing one handed while Mrs Jarvoid gets a luthier to come and extract my fingers from their entanglement in the fretworks...fortunately it was the left hand that became trapped ! Once again a post by yourself not containing any safety labelling.....disappointed ! !

You also seem to know a very non PC bird....but I like him all the more for not being afraid to show two fingers to the establishment.....oh hang on ...you only use one finger I believe...the middle digit....well all the better.

Oh and by the by,Bye Bye Blackbird is an all time fave of mine and this nailed it absolutely...great fun and a great job.Thanks.
