Description
Back sometime in the early 90's, before she passed away, my wife Sharon wrote a poem for me, but never actually gave it to me. It was only recently while I was going through some old boxes I'd been hauling around since her death in 1996, that I rediscovered this poem amongst some papers I'd saved.
The poem so touched me even now that I decided I needed to use it as the basis for what I consider a very touching love song about the relationship between two people.
I've tried very hard to do this wonderful sentiment justice, but whether I've succeeded is not for me to decide. So I present this song to you in hopes that you enjoy it and find some merit in my feeble attempt to pass along the feelings so eloquently expressed in Sharon's poem.
There are two people i need to thank for helping me get this song done.
First off, there is Jeannie, a girl I've known since 1960, and who came back into my life 7 years ago. She is now the love of my life and my wife and has been an inspiration to me on so many levels since the day we got back together in 2004. After I showed here the poem that Sharon had written, it was her encouragement that helped me get this done. She also listened to it at various stages in the production and offered suggestions for things I might change to make it better. Thank you Jeannie for your love and support, on so many levels over the last 7 years and on into the future.
The second person I want to thank is GuyGrooves for helping me with this song. I sent him the vocal track and he ran it through his Melodyne program to fix any little errors in pitch I might have made during the recording. When it came back to me Guy said there wasn't much to fix, but I really think Guy was just being his usual kind self when he said that. I noticed the track he sent back to me did sound better after his working on it then the original track I sent him, so thanks for touching up my vocal, Guy.
Guy also offer some expert suggestions for additions and corrections to the lead guitar part which I used, and they made a big difference on the lead guitar break. Thanks for those production ideas too my friend, you are a first class act.
Thanks for listening,
Ed

Verse 1
If you sometimes feel me leave you, if I quietly drift away.
Like the wind glides through the pine trees, in the waning of the day.
I'm going to my refuge, away from the next storm,
I'm seeking out my shelter, where silence is the norm.
Chorus
Don't be concerned, when I go-oh inside,
where it's peaceful, and quiet, and warm.
If you sometimes feel me leave you, I'm just dealing with the pain.
Because I love you, I'll come back again
Verse 2
Every angry word, will echo, throughout time
like the sound of clashing thunder as it rolls.
Old fears will travel through me like lightning in my mind,
as it strikes my heart and try to crush my soul.
Chorus
Don't be concerned, when I go-oh inside,
where it's peaceful and quiet and warm.
If you sometimes feel me leave you, I'm just dealing with the pain.
Because I love you, I'll come back again
Instrumental Verse
Bridge
When those black clouds gather round me, when the tears begin to fall.
When I can't control the anger that I feel.
For the things that I have suffered, from before you came to call
And showed me that a true love can be real.
Chorus
Don't be concerned, when I go-oh inside,
Where it's peaceful and quiet and warm.
If you sometimes feel me leave you, I'm just dealing with the pain.
Because I love you, I'll come back again

Such a touching story Ed! And a lovely poem. The chorus is particularly beautiful in its simplicity. I love the traditional country treatment (Eddy Arnold comes to mind). And Guy was right. Nice vocal!
