Description
I used the loop throughout this song for pretty much everything, with the exception of the bass, the recurring synth melody and the glockenspiel.
You can hear the loop in the lo-fi sounding sample that appears at the beginning and throughout the tune, the drum track is the loop and some additional parts I added on a separate track. all of the ambient sounds are that damn loop (either MIDI or treated audio), even the "guitar solo" at the end of the song and the outro synth solo.
I did use the MIDI loop, but to make it more of a personal challenge, I left the messed up timing in there and for every MIDI track, I bounced to audio immediately and then worked with edits of the audio tracks (I love working with audio).
I think the song could be a lot better, but I really didn't have as much time as I would have liked. I find parts of it to be really lazy; specifically the vocals and especially the chorus. i really should have re-recorded the vocals to get a better performance and overall mix/sound, but you get what you get. not the pinnacle of my songwriting, but that's okay by me though. it was more about finding a way to work within the limitations of the challenge. I really like doing these challenges as I always learn something. Looking forward to hearing everyone else's tracks and also looking forward to the one synth challenge (be still my geeky heart).
