Description

This is merely a demo to roz' Benny open Collab. He asked me to post it. Once he hears it, I'll take it down. I don't know where exactly where to put the vocals, so I did it twice. Then, I made one quieter and I added a third track of some parts, with a bit of ambience, that I hear as echo. There are no other effects. I'm very uncomfortable about trying those things. So, here it is. Maybe, roz will like it.

Yeah,
but roz hasn't heard it. I never (until now) do this, using someone's music when I have no idea what to do with the settings or production. i only sang it twice and both were a little different. I didn't know which was better. So, they're both there..the delay. The third repeat of end words was just an idea. (I really liked "falling, falling, falling".)Thanks, Andrew. roz could say, "Yuch!"

And I know I shouldn't sing past the music but I had to get that line in.

	I did like the echo effect as the the idea of repeating. I get ideas but I don't have the ability to make things happen. I'm not using the pinhole but a Cad usb mic. 	CLEVER Clever clever Very clever use of the repeating vocal. Keep experimenting, having fun. I sometimes wish there was a way to update the mp3 file for a particular song as it evolves without losing the commentary. I can see the reason why it must be as it is, though. 	I didn't move anything around or try to line up or sing along. I just had the two takes which were different. When I played them together with one muted, I thought it had a nice background quality. Wow, it is kind of accidental. The quieter vox was my first try at putting the lyrics in. The man vocal was the second try. When I played them together, it sounded interesting to me. I added the third vocal as a delay response to the second and effected it, ambient. I'm pretty sure it could be better if I had some direction. I don't know enough about adding things like reverb, etc. I don't hear the differences and I'm scared I'll mess stuff up. Thanks, Chris. I appreciate it. :)

I haven't been able to send anything to roz. This may be as far as it goes. Gee, Billy, I want to thank you for the vote of confidence. I liked the idea of the three voices. It was an accident. I did no special fitting. I just used the first two takes as they were. The third repeating was placed with more care. Benny is a cool track. Thank you. :)

I think the best collaboration can come when no direction is provided from the collaborators. I am really glad that I didn't share a version with my melody with you because it is completely different, and I really love what you've come up with. The passion in the singing- wow! Lets keep working on this. Can you record a clean vocal track and send it to me or let me download it? I'll mix then send to you to re-post if you like it:)

doesn't sound like a compliment but I'll take it. I keep telling everyone that I don't know what I'm doing. And, damn it, I've not shaken a cough and scratchy throat for a long time now. I sound terrible. I just wanted to demo for roz the lyric I wrote. I may never sing again. There may be a good song in there, anyhow. Roz's music deserves better, I know. Yes. Trick is to learn and tweak before making the same mistakes. I have a lot to learn. Thank you. :)

that I chose a good tune. I really liked it. Oh yeah, my lyrics. I had hoped that it could be more finished. As I explained. I sang twice. they were different, falling at different places in the music. I played them together and thought, make one quieter and use them both, as a demo for roz. Then, I added the third repeat. I didn't do anything else.
I don't understand enough to start messing with effects and mastering. Sure, I could learn but I'm so lazy. Thank you for the encouragement. It means a lot to me. :)

Yes,
I decided to. Though, I know if a real musician had worked on it, it would have been better. Even if someone asks me to post an idea again, I won't do it. I understand my lack of expertise and I am somewhat embarrassed by it. There weren't any fancy settings. I didn't even practice but just recorded my first two tries, added the third repeat and left it all there, warts and all. I still love the music bed by roz and I owe him for letting me use his piece. Thank you, Doug.
