Description

Well folks, the CD, "Naturally Composed" is finally done and will be released around June 1st. This is track #3 from the album - a solo piano piece that I wrote about 10 years ago and named for my dog, Bailey. I've never posted this solo version of the song, but some of you may recognize it from my very first collab - Motu used a slightly altered version of it in Summer Storm.

Anyway, the CD and digital download will be available on CD Baby in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you updated. In the meantime, enjoy Bailey's Song.

Gorgeous rich piano work...
and just makes me pace faster, waiting, waiting... anticipating your release! Congratulations on all the hard work getting all the songs recorded, mixed, CD cover art done, and then pushed through CDBaby and DiskSuperDupers! This is a wonderful piece, upbeat, and flowing like sunshine across the front porch on a Summer morning. I'll be ordering your CD as soon as it is ready!

Brilliance and heart
Much more than a tribute, this is elegant and poignant, sunny and wet with rain. I love the progression and rit. at 1:43 in particular, but it is hard to point out anything as an outstanding attribute when the whole piece melds together and speaks with one true voice.

Congratulations Shay, and best of luck with the CD!! And thanks for letting us have a listen before the CD is published.

Simplicity...
is at the heart of this poignant song. Tobin called it correctly: a modern hymn. You take that descending pattern from start to finish and run it through a very pleasant series of turns that are very satisfying. The rubato now and again at cadences and the modulation of touch are strong features of this piece, too. It is so nice to NOT hear a metronome guiding your playing. There is breath here...and so there is life. (Congratulations on the new CD. It is always a major event to produce one of those. I wish you much success with it.)

I'm enjoying every bit of it...
The pace of it's just right to my ears, time perfect, but not stiff, really musical... great piano tone... The tune itself is pretty, thoughtful, not syrupy or sappy.... When you lay a little bit of low note in there with the left hand it has a nice warm heft to it, puts a bit of burr on the crystal clear midrange that balances things nicely...
