Karma Ride
So I had this guitar thing with a 5/4 feel; I wanted lyrics and knew I needed something special. I immediately thought of Gaylen - he did NOT disappoint!
"Are you tired of this Karma ride - are you getting dizzy" Just amazing!
I knew I needed some serious Macjams talent to do Gaylen's vocals justice - so I asked rok41 (Chris), and scofugate (Scott) to play bass and drums, respectively. To make a VERY long story short, both of their performances ended up in this song, and I couldn't be more excited about the final product.

Let me just say that this project started off with an infectious feel and I was proud to lend what I could. By the end I was convinced that the talent around me had been the fates reminding me that I can be so much more humble. These guys are the reason I stick to singing. All I can say is thanks for letting me play with you guys.

As always, It is great working with a talented group of guys like Sig, Scott and Gaylen. This is my first opportunity to work with Gaylen and he is a master of his craft. Scott just "gets it", understands the groove. I am really appreciating all of the opportunities lately to work with him in a rhythm section capacity. And Sig? What a shocker; he created another great composition to build upon...just straight up talented! I'm a lucky guy to be able to work with him on a regular basis. Thanks guys!

What an honor it was when I was invited to jam this tune. Its funny how all our musical paths have crossed along this karma ride here on MJ. Gaylen, I know we have been on at least 2, Sig at least 5 or more directly and indirectly. Chris, well, I can't keep up man. What Genre can you NOT play bro?
One of the most important things to me is the friendships gained going through the processes of a collaboration. These guys make it really easy on the drummer! – The 5/4 meter in the bridge was a challenge, as Mr. Sig asked for it “not” to be a steady beat, but rolls on the toms. Thanks for the challenge as I hope I gave it the justice it deserves man. --- Thanks for the push!!!
Its so fun to Jam like this with a group of friends!! Ya'll Rock!!!! A round of Cannolis on me.
Thanks to all 3 of you guys - it has truly been an honor and a privilege working with you!
I also want to thank my wife, Kelley, for the awesome artwork. Earlier this week, she went on hiatus to Laughlin, Nevada, with a friend, and spent the majority of the time there in the hotel room working on this project. I'd say it was worth the effort! Thank you, Wife!
And, I'd like to thank strangedream (Natalie) for her most excellent and helpful critical feedback in the early stages of mixing. That girl really has a good ear!
And thank you - for your support here at Macjams, and for stopping by my page. We hope you enjoy Karma Ride!

Lyrics
Karma Ride
I told you to play nice
But you folded your arms
Baby you seem sweet
Like you'd do no harm
Misery loves company
But you charms your charms
I know you're a siren
Cuz I'm hearing alarms
There are some kinds of pain
That I know you wish you could wish away
Just close your eyes
Cuz it's all in your mind
Yeh I know you insist you're an angel
Yeh I know you could do no wrong by me
You should know I'm not impressed
By silly fables
Like a child who doesn't know the rules of
Any games you play
(Chorus)
You know Baby, what goes around
It comes around
But that's what you get for
Making a fool out of me
Are you tired of this karma ride
ARe you getting dizzy
Do you wanna stop and get off
Should have been good to me
Yeh I know you think you're turning the table
Yeh I know you think you're smarter than me
You should know you'll never get one over
Maybe you should and do right by me
(Bridge A)
I told you the secrets of my heart
I showed you how I made room inside
And all you had to do was play your part
But you decided to lie and to lie and to lie
(Chorus)
(Bridge B)
I've already made up my mind
I'm leaving it all behind
You've never been good to me
So why don't you stand there and cry
As I pack up my shit and leave
Alright - Alriiiiiiiiight!
(Solo)
(Bridge A)
(Chorus & repeat)
