short instrumental. Archy, this does sound good. Let us know what is live playing and what are loops if any. I think you have the makings of a complete song here. A lead guitar solo or other instrument, maybe a drum break? Any way good work. 6677

Structure &mdash 02/03/05 - 09:15:04 PM
I like the riffs you're using here, whether it's live or loops.
However, the structure of the whole piece is a bit strange.
You start very forcefully, then immediately the music
shifts down a gear to just bass and drum; then there is a
passage of acoustic guitar and drum. And then it starts
building up again. I think you first need to establish the
basis of a piece before you can start thinning it out. Listen
to some music; if there are such breakdown passages,
they come late in the piece, almost "ok, everyone has had
their solo, let's give the bass player one too". It's strange
to have that right in the beginning.

But I really like the passage with the piano later, that sort
of thing can be the chorus section of a decent
composition.

You listened to this piece closely and critically, and for that I thank you.
It is all loops ( Garageband one only), and I created it more as a tester of what
I could do with them rather than a finished song, but since you have some
ideas and appreciate my work so far I might just try and re work it with some
of my own material and churn it out as a Real song...

Thanks, Archy

I liked 'Sway' better, but... &mdash 03/20/05 - 01:06:44 PM
This one has some interseting parts. The loop that you
started with definitely needs to come out. It is too harsh
and abrupt to start the song. The second loop would do a
much better job.

One word, "Continuity". This song needs to decide what
type of music it is. Is it hard rock? is it dance? is it pop?
Think of the music as a story, you want it to entice the
listener to continue listening. I suggest reading a few
short stories as well as listening to more music. Learn
about formand structure.

You have some really promising talent. I look forward to
hearing more!
