Description
Something very simple, perhaps a barre routine or quiet, personal performance on an empty stage with soft lighting and graceful and eloquent movement. The instrumentation is piano, F horn, strings, flute. A piano score can be found on my website: http://www.paulpage.org/Paul_Page_Music/By_The_Numbers.html.

dancing graces the stage of my mind
I am watching beyond the dimmed lights now, as she dances slowly and gracefully on stage, with arms occasionally held out, pleadingly, toward the darkness offstage, but he never comes. The trees bow and protect her as the moonlight shades her in blues, and she slowly curls up to sleep under the stars, waiting until tomorrow.
Beautiful work Paul, wonderful orchestral touches, perfect pacing, and that gentle touch of longing... and music that triggers visions is always great in my book! Thought I'd share mine with you :-)

OK... this is beautiful. The subtle orchestra is perfect and I like the air you leave in spots. Enjoyed this very much.

Evocative
Hi Paul. You are so popular I will have to take a number :-) As described by others - calming, delicate, gentle. I would like to add "evocative". Just wonderful! Take care, Peter.

I don't mean anything bad...
...when I say that this was made to be the theme for a very fine, very elegant music box...The one that would become an heirloom...And everyone would say, "Oh my, that's one of the PAGE music boxes...take care of that one, sweetheart...they're very rare...Paul Page composed the themes for them...Yes, THAT Paul Page..."

Yes, in the future it becomes THE gift to give a young dancer at a significant recital...

I'll put this in my fantasies box right next to the Paul Page Broadway cabaret show, and the Paul Page Missa Solemna at some huge cathedral...

Please don't think I'm kidding. Everything ELSE I say I'm probably kidding, but not this...

Very nice!
To compose, perform and then to post it for everyone to share is an insight into a good person and a great musician. As I listen to more and more of your pieces, I can tell you lead a very happy life. patty

Hi Paul......
This is yet another lovely piano piece. I see where the dancer ready themselves to dance and then they begin. There movements gracefully capturing the nuances of your music. The parts becoming the whole.

Take care.

Beautifully captured moments
I'm not sure why, but this strikes me as being French in setting. It is remarkable in how you have carefully chosen just what to add, and more importantly what to leave out, and in this wisdom have woven a very intimate portrait of the dancer, her gently reflective mood, and her surroundings. But apart from virtuoso minimalist orchestration, the timing of the performance is what most impressed me here in terms of how you chose just the right pace for each breath of the phrasing. That subtle nuance and the ability to express it is a gift, which you clearly have, and through this work have offered it to us.

Many thanks Paul,

Doug

wow paul
this is a little overwhelming how nice this is. you always play and compose wonderfully, but this sounds like a classic. why isn't this being (over)used in every film that wants a haunting, lovely piece of music that shows hope and thoughtfulness? tremendous.

Haunting
Beautiful and melancholy, I like this. Having no talent for keyboards I'm always impressed with this level of expression. I agree that this has filmic qualities but I can see it over a depression era silent movie, with it's distinct movements following logical scene changes. Superb.

Beautiful
What a delightful piece - gentle and beautifully played. I love the clarity and richness of the piano sound, and each instrument you bring in adds something both to the melody and the feel of the piece. Very impressive!

Invitation To Dance
Its wonderful to connect two arts in one project ,I definitely live this moment in the mind of a dancer ..the Piano intro set the mood into a true romantic field ..the orchestra came just to carry the delicate feelings up higher into a restful cloud ..emotional piece more than a singing one ,Very fine piece as always ..thanks a lot for sharing !!
