Lyrics
The sun drops through the clouds as she boards the last train
She misses home and family
Wondered if she should stay
Bought a one-way ticket out
So much harder than it seemed
Growing up in a small town
A girl alone with fading dreams

She was lonely on the train, taking her somewhere or anywhere
Strangers and their stories came
For all of her dreams, she knew she'd go, all of the long hard way

She felt a little nervous then the countryside a picture
This empty train gets closer to a city in the dust
She prayed that she would settle soon, go on to make a good living
That people there will let her in and give her another chance

She packed her case with memories from home,
All of her savings stored in a jar
Not so much to show for stacking shelves, she knows
When she has dreams to see the world

She was lonely on the train, taking her somewhere or anywhere
Strangers and their stories came
For all of her dreams, she knew she'd go, all of the long hard way

Last train to sunset, softly beating through her head
The tracks are paths to somewhere
A new life, a good life, instead

Natural...
The vocals reminded me of Graham Nash (a good thing IMHO) and the lyrics told an interesting story. The acoustic guitar work is nice and clear in the mix and the fiddle and pedal steel sounded natural and well balanced. Congratulations, Peter.

Nice vocals & tight playing. There is some nice imagery in the lyric "Last train to sunset".

Country/ western?
I'm not hearing the country in this....Don't get me wrong i like the lyric and the voice...i just think you place it in the wrong category.....soft rock or adult contemporary if there are categories for those on MJ... Very good song and nice recording....I hear the steel on the end sounding more like country....
