Description
I'm a big fan of John Whitehead's work here at MacJams. He's got a great way with acoustic folk and old-time music. So I was very pleased when he agreed to collab with me on a couple of old-timey tunes.

Lyrics
Oh, my golden slippers are laid away
'Cause I don't expect to wear 'em til my wedding day
And my long tailed coat, that I love so well
I will wear up in the chariot in the morning.
And my long white robe that I bought last June
I'm going to get changed 'cause it fits too soon
And the old grey hoss that I used to drive
I'll hitch him to the chariot in the mornin.
Oh, dem golden slippers
Oh, dem golden slippers
Golden slippers I'm goin' to wear
Because they look so neat.
Oh, dem golden slippers
Oh, dem golden slippers
Golden slippers I'm goin' to wear
To walk the golden street.
So, it's good-bye, children I have to go
Where the rain don't fall and the wind don't blow
And your ulster coats, you ain't gonna need
When you ride up in the chariot in the mornin.
yourr golden slippers they look so keen
but your age must be just sweet sixteen
And your white kid gloves you'll have to wear
When you ride up in the chariot in the morning.
'Cause I don't expect to wear 'em til my wedding day
And my long tailed coat, that I love so well
