There was a time
I could play this song all the way through. Mind you I didn't say sans errors, but all the way through never the less.

Sounds good to me and yes we are having fun now, Chris.

love it

Ed

Way to go Chris. You got some fine fingerpicking going on. I gave it my best shot time and again. Now it's nothing but fender thins for me. Sounds like you had some fun, and honestly, some fine playing....
Check out my latest song called What Would That Make Me?
Jarvoid said 676 days ago (July 15th, 2011)
THe fingerpicking is
maybe not strictly ala book ...it certainly ain't Chet or Merle....or even Alackbass ! But it is instinctive and all me ...especially the cock ups Which I shall christen "jarvoids" lol.
Thanks for having a listen.

Actually Chris...
I would prefer listening to someone going to town and creating some really infectious sounds playing off the top of their cranium and making a mistake or two--so often today, every thing has to be "just so"--to the point where it sounds denuded of any human touch. Lots of glimmering gold to enjoy throughout this--I'll pass on that (what we in the States call) "the Bronx Raspberry" at the end, but that was a colorful and artistic touch worthy of merit in itself. Jolly good show--thanks again! Michael

A mistake or two....lordy...
if it were just only two !! But seriously.....no cannot do serious...it isn't in m to do so....I appreciate what you say Michael. The finger picking is not particularly learned as developed over years of self teaching (mis teaching,I suppose ) and is purely instinctively me....and that is the way it will probably stay.....although I have had a nice PM from Neil advising the correct way to do a "banjo roll" as Thumb.index,Middle....I thought a banjo roll was two slices of bread with a fried egg in the middle....no ...that's an egg banjo ! doh ...but pleasant and welcome words ,thanks .

...oh and the
Raspberry, just a bit of a nod to Spike milligan.......no I do not kinow why either ,he never nodded to me !

Freight Train
Okey Dokey! One of my favourite pieces to play given the full Jarvo treatment! Really enjoyed it, some nice things going on in the phrasing and stuff. But a raspberry?? Well done
Jarvoid said 676 days ago (July 15th, 2011)
Thanks for the PM ..and
the Egg Sandwich....Banjo Butty...Banjo Roll ..instructions ...I will try them....though disaster may well loom in that direction.....

Raspberry......why not? ...today's irreverence is tomorrows ......um..irreverence ! Did Merle ever do a raspberry did he,did he, did he ?

Enjoyed the Jarvoism! Nice pickin' ... Like the pause at around 3;40 and then you speed up the tempo and end with that wonderful percussive fart! Sounds like you were having a good time.

Thank you so much
fo appreciating the cultural nuances of the raspberry,an entirely impromptu, but now I think wholly neccesary part to this little piece (lol).

No idea why ,but just glad I did.

You really
are a lively wire and you bring all the electric. I'll bet your hair stands on end. Always enjoy your playing and appreciate the attitude adjustment I get from listening to you. Hah! Sometimes, you've got to say "thooze"....or however that spells! Thank you, Chris.

I think that you
are very kind and I suppose that if I did not shave my hair off that it would stand up.....in fact when I was younger my hairstyle was once described as a busted mattress....so very perceptive of you.....I take it that @Thooze@ is your way of spelling a raspberry and quite a good way it is too,yes I think that now and again a raspberry to the establishment, even one as pleasant as Macjams is called for. Just to let 'em know not to get too serious.

Cheers

What's wrong with you?
You're not supposed to have fun! Fun is NOT allowed here! This is serious business. I urge you to curb these foolish impulses, they will be your undoing. Please make sure your next recording is more staid, boring, and unpleasant.

:)

(That was fun, man! :) )

Not taking oneself too seriously
Years ago now, when I was living in Central New York, I came around the corner in a museum in Syracuse and there on display was Elizabeth Cotton's beat-up old guitar - a bit of a surprise.

As you demonstrate here, one of the joys in life is sitting down with an instrument and simply banging out a tune. It's fun - and often it leads to a bit of a surprise when it's not taken too seriously.
