Description
So, Bad Man is a song that I co-wrote with my good friend and songwriting partner, Mike McKeown out of Austin about 20 years ago. I have had it on the shelf for years, played it in a couple of bands but never recorded it. So I thought it was a great opportunity to pool the talents of my MacJam friends along with a couple of other good friends and former band mates to help me realize my vision. I originally recorded all the parts and performed the vocal, but I was fortunate to replace all of that (except bass) with the help of my friends. The song theme may be a little dark for some, but I really like the way everything came together. I can’t thank these extraordinarily talented guys enough for lending their talents to my project. What a pleasure!
A special thanks goes out to Sig and Andrew for their helpful ears on the mix.

Lyrics
Bad Man
Verse 1
On the high, white plains where the prairie meets the desert
I keep driving but I can’t escape the sun
One cold fact remains though I left it far behind me
In the badlands where I stopped to ditch the gun
I never knew his name ‘cause he came in unexpected
It went so fast I didn’t think to stop
Just a handful of singles I kept my eye on the horizon
I didn’t wait to see his body drop
Chorus
I’m a bad man… yes, now I own that name
Don’t make no plans… ain’t no rules to this new game
Verse 2
I can see my mama now on the front porch in her rocker
Shrugging when they ask where I have gone
Was a quiet boy in school, but a wild side like my brother
Destined me to someday going wrong
I never minded work (haha) but thieving came real easy
And it pumped me full of something like a drug
When my options narrowed down I finally threw my last trump card
And I’m trapped inside this hole that I have dug
Chorus
Bridge
Got nothing on my mind but my surviving
All I got to do today is keep on driving
Guitar solo
Verse 3
I’m gonna call you Maggie. I don’t want to know your name
Or your age or where it is that you call home
This road won’t last forever; it’s no life for you to live
So I’m left to fight these demons on my own...
Chorus
