Description
The seguidilla is an old Castillian folksong and dance form. This "Seguidilla" aria is from the French opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet. The beautiful gypsy, Carmen, sings it in an attempt to persuade her captor, the soldier Don Jose, into accompanying her to her friend Lillas Pastia's inn.

Brava
I've always loved that seduction scene, as well as the music. You sing this quite well (even though I'm missing the visuals here :-) and you handle the little ritardandos perfectly. And, Carmen is a coloratura part , isn't she? That's a wide range here, and you handle that too, Brava!

Thanks
Yes, this part does have a wide range, the end top C is quite a stretch for a mezzo!

mezzo?
This sounds half a register lower than your latest. Apart from that yowl at the end of course.

Great singing, much enjoyed.

Mezzo
Yes, the role of "Carmen" is a mezzo-soprano which is what I am really, although I can sometimes just about screach into soprano arias!

Rosalind, I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan of yours all the time, I am ashamedly ignorant when it comes to Opera as it really is a genre I havent ever understood, but what I do know id your voice is moving and emotional and as far as I am concerned this is exceptional

What a lovely comment, it's always nice when people listen in to a genre they're not that familiar with.

Listening to this is a real treat. Your voice is like a well played instrument with feeling and expression ... and that last note gave me bumps!

How very pleasant...
...to be sitting here listening to this wonderful rendition of the Bizet classic. You really pump life into the aria, syncing perfectly with the recorded orchestra. I feel like I am THERE and hearing this live. It is delightful to hear a classical vocal number performed with such grace and polish.

Great!
Thank you so much for this. papag plugged your tune in chat and, as it often is with him, I didn't know what to expect. Carmen happens to be one of my faves, and this was a truly beautiful surprise! Cheers,
