Description
It began with trying to follow the decay from a delay, it had no tempo. Don't try this at home kids. I gave up on it but left it in.... Just in case? Sorry about the very poor transition.
Mr Andy kindly gave up his sax blowing skills to rescue the sinking ship and it all of a sudden it sounded like a tune. Mr Andy is very good at his job.

Deep, deep groove! Great textures and effects. I really like the lead guitar at 2:33. Killer guitar sound! Of course Andy sounds great here.

I am still diggin this/ Steve
Love the sparseness to this tune... gave me many more ideas than I recorded.. which is a good indicator that a song is not a sinking ship. [nudge] I am going to have to recruit you on that guitar sound at 2:30. There are some vocalists that come to mind when I listen to this song... I wonder if any of them will agree to collaborate... we shall see.

Open collab indeed!
I became aware of you, Steve early on and was always amazed at your compositions. Wondered if we would ever do a song together.... Thanks so much !

Mr Andy. We should have done this earlier. The best part of what I get to do is audition parts solo via the headphones, yours were on a loop while I sat back in amazement. Brilliant playing, and a massive thanks once again.

seriously...genius. definitely one of the best songs on macjams....and beyond. what a great choice of conspirators - i would have never imagined andy on this....but that's my narrow mind; it's a perfect addition.

wrapped in the darkest memory
huddled in a corner, the ex remembers the bad, and the worse. it flows by in wet streamers like the steamy headlights on the city street down below. there is nowhere to go now. there is nowhere to return to. there is only this corner of the apartment to huddle in, wrapped in the solitary now.

very evocative of loneliness and despair, for some reason... beautiful soundscape you two.

the good ones are...
perhaps there is some personal button pushed here... but then, isn't that what great music is supposed to do... trigger an emotional response in the listener? If this mysterious music is happy, I look forward to your "darkest holiday" tune then. :-)

Hey you play the box? Do you do any Irish tunes? My uncle gigs in Ireland with his box, I always go out with him when I visit my family, he is such a character. Thanks for the kind words mate. I hope your tune is coming on, I am looking forward to listening to that.

You draw the
listener in. What is behind the door... you wonder as you hand turns the knob. Slats in the shades let streamers of moonlight into the large room. You can feel the eyes of someone watching you. He begins to play. You have to sit down so you squat onto the floor. The notes flow around your head. Someone is beating time on makeshift drums. Are these sounds coming from a ghost band? You aren't scared because the music caresses. You hope they offer to let you stay, because you want to hear more. What an experience. Why did you two wait so long? Excellent collab. Thanks.

Seems like Mr Drak has inspired some creative writing here, I am very happy to read such lines, we should do more of this. we have just been discussing the matter. Thank you Char, I enjoyed reading that. I don't know why, perhaps cos he is one of those real musicians. Take care.

Love that John Carpenter beginning. Change at 1:10. A second beginning. You've become a real sound engineer. Do you give lessons? That guitar at 2:40 is coming from the next town over. I think the word for the sax work is sultry. Sounds like a movie track. Moody, wide open. You're so versatile. Would definitely like a peek at the musical ideas swimming around in the tokaimind.

I liked the first minute or so
but felt it was kind of disjointed from the second section - which I liked even better. Great mix/production - a place for everything (and everything in it's place). Love the distant guitar in the RH. Lovely sax Andy, and cool synths. Also like the stops/pauses and restrained management of the instruments.
I'm thinking you could have got 2 really interesting tunes from this rather than dove-tailing them together.
But that's just me ....... top post gentlemen!

Too right! That is the way I write Jig. You will notice it in a lot of my music. I will start a section over a few days and work on the move onto another section, I never sketch out a whole 5 minute drum track first and try to fit something into it. It does not fit, I just liked it. Cheers for many kind words and your support, we thank you.

Intro Sonic bass line is very deep and tight. Loved it! This piece grooved for me 1:10 like some hip kat walking in some ghost town. Andy's sax added a soundtrack mystique to this piece. sound textures and accents are always wonderful with your Tokai touch! Great composition and collab you guys :) Thanks so much for sharing! Patty

This is possibly one of the most creative pieces I have listened to on MJ. Pretty cool mix in my phones. Love all the nuances ... haunting sax harmonies with that cool guitar at 2:30 ... mind you being a guitar player who has a problem with making it too loud in the mix I would have liked to hear it a bit up in the mix. Really enjoyed this.
