Description
Don't have much to say about this one - it is what it is. Nothing deep and a fairly standard scenario. But I think it flows along OK.

Hope you enjoy it!

The photo is the path to Mt Warning in northern New South Wales, Australia. The top of Mt Warning is the first place in Australia to catch the morning sun.

Lyrics
The Drifter and the Lady

I am a drifter, you are lady
You are at home far away
From roads that I’ve travelled, friends that I’ve lived with
But we’ll meet again come what may
Though I’m a drifter who’s seen out some time
You know me well I’ll be home

Cause drifters and ladies
Are people and lovers
We can be lovers some day
I’ll travel your highway, sing you a love song
I’ll tell you softly I’ll stay
To play of the morning and to sing of the wine
Play us together I’ll be home

Instrumental

I am a drifter you are a lady
You are at home far away
But drifters and ladies are people and lovers
We can lovers someday
We will be lovers someday

Nice one...
Hi Philip. Is Mt Warning just that...? A salutatory lesson about the perils that can befall the drifter who strays too far from the beaten track? The guitar lead and bass work suit the song and the chord progression is unusual enough to add some unique musical interest. Well done. P.S. Back in hospital again :-( with an infection.... Peter

Sorry to hear you're back inside! Not much enjoyment in that... Yes, I played around a bit with the chord progression. The main verse has an F note running through a C/A7/Dm7/G7 (although the song is played in Eb with a capo on the third fret) which I thought sounded more interesting than a standard C/Am/F/G sort of progression. I quite like the Gm7 to G7 at the end of the verses. And yes. not a good idea to get off the track in the Mt Warning rainforest... See up soon!

I felt like I was at someone's wedding ... twirling away on the dance floor .... while watching the bride and groom toast each other .... nice

The Drifter and the Lady
(the title sounds like a Clint Eastwood musical somehow!) but seriously Phillip--very engaging and mellow piece given a very engaging and mellow performance; a warm voice and soft guitar--a very winning combination. You are quite a talented fellow because you've not only the ability to perform your music extremely well, but your songwriting is superb too. Thanks again and looking forward to your next, Michael

Yes, the title is a bit western movie. Not an uncommon theme, I suppose, of someone in love with a person of a different status. The song is just meant as entertainment, and if people like the feel of it I'm delighted! Thanks Michael for listening and taking the time to comment.

Nice one Philip
Uncanny resemblance to Moviz' vocal style here Philip. Lovely soft and sweet song - not my cup of tea as you will be aware, but nicely done.
Cheers from the near north.

Beautiful song and an equally beautiful vocal performance. The arrangement is wonderful in its simplicity. Perfect match for the lyrics and melody.
