Description
I was listening to some old garageband files today and came across this piece. I made it in 2006. Apparently, I threw a bunch of piano loops up, turned on the microphone, and started to sing. The lyrics and melody are pure improvisation and you can tell this because every once in a while I search for the right note. I obviously had no idea what was coming next, musically.
The lyrics tell the story of a lonely woman who, instead of embracing life by getting over some heartbreak, chooses to spend her life waiting for things to get better. The lyrics could use a good working over and yet I decided to post this as is. It is, after all, what improvisation is all about: Unedited, off the cuff performance with no idea what's coming. This is singing without a net! I managed to figure out what all the lyrics are, and have posted them for you. Enjoy!

Lyrics
She sits on a park bench
all alone
Waiting
Waiting for her man
She feeds the birds
Sketches in a pad
Watches all the faces moving round and round and round
And yet she waits
For her man
Where has he gone?
Where has he gone?
20 years she sat on a bench
Waiting her life away
20 years
20 years
Have sailed away
Talks to children
Loves the bunnies
Pets each dog that walks on a leash
Chats to mailmen
Wonders slowly
What's happened to her life?
20 years
20 years
Waiting on a bench for no one who will ever come
Does the crossword
Never fails to fill a square
Anywhere
Does anyone
Need a woman
Who can think and speak and get along with
Everyone?
But who's content to wait her life away
20 years
20 years
Will she ever wake one day?
all alone
Waiting
Waiting for her man
She feeds the birds
Sketches in a pad
Watches all the faces moving round and round and round
And yet she waits
For her man
Where has he gone?
Where has he gone?
20 years she sat on a bench
Waiting her life away
