YOU WHAT?

Description
I wanted to do something based on rhythm - where I wouldn't have to think too much :)

Against my better judgement there are a couple of guitar tracks here (only bits of keyboards are the opening few bars and the clav) and live bass. Anything that sounds like a keyboard apart from those is my Tele. I really wanted to get the percussion happening on this, and have numerous midi percussion loops which I've tweaked for variations.

I know it's not high art, but it makes you move your feet a little ;)

Any suggestions for genre?

I sometimes have a build up of rhythmic ideas that I have to tie down - this was one of them.
Glad you enjoyed it.

cool stuff
suits a postmodern, wooden sort of dystopian climate. Where everyone is somehow happy.

B.E.N.!
Sounds like a good sort of place - the "where everyone is somehow happy" bit I mean. Thanks for listening.
Cheers from Oz,

Not all that much
work on this one - it was all pretty quick to do - one of the great things about working with midi loops. Even the guitar tracks were pretty quick to appear.
Thanks for the listen.

no clue
reminds me of Alan Parsons Project - so... i guess it would progressive rock, more so if it changed several times during the song. as it is, it's a very good dance tune - so, no, i have no idea what genre this would be

but i like it

thanks

YOU WHAT?
Hey Neil. Cool job with the loops. The drums really make this thing work and give it that feel. The clav is real funky and the repeating guitar riff thing feels pretty natural. You have a distinctive style that I am used to hearing so this is very different . I think it's good to step outside your comfort zone and experiment. As far as a genre it's tough to slot this. Maybe experimental ... nu--jazz? Really enjoyed listening ... Great stuff!

Hey, I really like this!
So who cares about the genre.... Basic rhythm and clav tracks remind me of some of the funkier bits of Robert Palmer... And then that genre-breaking chimey Tele line bops in and out.... I like the bit of percussion breakout about halfway through...

Great dance track. I bet it would also sound great with a ripping guitar solo. Or a weirdly funky bit of bari sax....
