Description:
Do we all sell out in the end?

Lyrics:
Someone told me all you need is love,
What happened to the things we said today?

I wish you'd died before you got old.

Used to hear the sound of London Calling,
Now they call long distance from L.A.

I wish you'd died before you got old.

Take your magic bus pass..

(I thought my mother was a bad cook, but at least her gravy used to move about)

Someone told me 'bout my generation,
Now I think I might be fooled again.

I wish you'd died before you got old.

Take you magic bus pass.

(Where is the revolution -
Where is the revolution song?)

I wish you'd died before you got old.

So....Roger Daltrey sold out...but do you really want him dead...can't ya just rough him up for a couple of hours...?
Interesting stuff.

Interesting production, good performance. The lyrics
seemed oddly mean-spirited given the production. I'd
expect a punk sound, not some easy-listening soft rock
with backwards guitar effects.

Thanks for the above comments. I actually wrote the lyrics about 10 years ago and was considerably angrier then.
Nowadays I'd actually quite like a trout farm - just like the one Roger Daltrey had a few miles away from here in Brighton.

As for it being described as soft rock - Now I wish I'd died before I got old.

Actually, I like the easy quality of the music juxtaposed
with the angry content. Makes the anger seem integrated,
like an old grudge would be, as if it is something you can't
escape from and most of the passion has been drained,
but the resentment is always just below the surface. Nice
writing. And excellent photo.

Thanks for the kind words.
For info the picture is of deceased English actor, Wilfred Bramble, in his role as Steptoe - the cantankerous father in "Steptoe and Son", a sitcom which ran for years in the 60's and 70's. I believe it transferred to the US under the title, "Sanford and Son".
He also played Paul McCartney's grandad in "A Hard Day's Night"

Daltry's a poof? &mdash 03/10/05 - 03:33:09 PM
What did he do for God's sake? I can imagine he's
become a 60 something year old wanker in tight
pants more or less...but what is your beef?
I would've kicked some shack on Elton John more..or
Phil Collins. They're the ones doing Disney film
soundtracks and crap selling out to the man. But hey
it's your song now aint it?

It's not about him.. &mdash 03/12/05 - 04:51:16 PM
I think that my (mis)appropriation of the fine words of the Who has led to the
misapprehension that I've got something against Roger Daltry.
Fact is those words just sort of fitted.
Really the song is about my longing for the lost idealism of my musical
inspirations.
I suppose I'm really singing about my own journey in life and the inevitable (?)
decline of the rage inside.

(Although, Elton and Phil are quite depressing, I agree)
