Description
Back in April 2010 a few of us macjammers went to watch a very enjoyable and entertaining play that Julian Sims had written. In the bar before the play started we were chatting and, I think it was Dick Langford who suggested that maybe we should all try and write a song for our own funeral! I found this a very interesting concept and I have always said that I would like 'No Dancing Please' on my gravestone. That was the start of this.
I wrote this song and my original version can be found here:
I then, once again, asked my very good friend Christopher Chaplin if he would like to bring his magic to it. He thankfully agreed and the result is below. I had to wait a long time because Christopher was very busy during this period. He had been asked by BBC Radio 3's Late Junction Show to participate in a collaboration with the renowned composer Hans-Joachim Roedelius. Roedelius has collaborated with many of the greats over the years (including Brian Eno). If anyone would like to hear the resulting 20 minute interview with Christopher and the music, I have a copy recorded. Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a link to download.
This is our fourth collaboration.

Lyrics
I'm Very Sorry I Brought You Here
Not A Nice Thing To Have To Do
I Know It's Bad
Very Sad
Morning is Dawning
Someone is Yawning
And if it Seems Just Like a Dream
Just like the Cat without the Cream
No Dancing Please
No Dancing Please
I'm On My Knees
No Dancing Please
No Dancing Please
No Dancing Please
I'm On My Knees
It's Easy to be Afraid
Just Look This Day in The Eye
Take a Breath and Reach
for the Sky
Morning is Dawning
Someone is Yawning
This Day will Pass Don't You Know
Just Like a Month, a Month of Snow
No Dancing Please
No Dancing Please
I'm On My Knees
No Dancing Please
No Dancing Please
No Dancing Please
I'm On My Knees
No Dancing Please
It's Over Now, Dance

Just happened to be on-line.
What a piece!
Even more experimental than normal. Chris has done a wonderful job. Words fail me with Chris's orchestrations. Just superb use of textures and sounds.
Great lyrics. Raw and exposed.
I'd forgotten about the funeral song. I must get on with mine.
