Description

The tar is a North African frame drum. This song features 2 tracks of tar playing a groove in 15 (or 7 1/2, depending on how you count it), 3 tracks of a second tar part, 2 tracks of Middle Eastern-style tambourine, a shaker track on the pulse, finger cymbals on the 1 each time it comes around, and two vocal tracks. It is a rough mix. I am still learning how to mix. Recording the drums was easy with the Blue Snowball, once I figured out which setting to use. The second tar part actually includes a track each of the three possible mic settings on the Snowball, if that makes any sense. There are no effects on the drums. Vocals were recorded using the Female Basic setting on GB. This kind of music is one of my guilty pleasures. I hope it takes you to a place beyond words, and I hope it inspires you in some way.

This is a real headphone show off track. Really great, full recording of the drums and other percussion instruments. Well distributed in space, nice air, and great big resonance on the tar.... AND it's a whole different sound from what I've heard from you before, so it has that extra layer of minty fresh coolness to it...

	Beautiful and ... Meditative. Quite lovely! I was counting away furiously, trying to hear the 15 beat cycle, and I think I eventually got it, although for me it seemed possibly easier to feel it as 7 plus a hiccup (half-beat). 	15? why not..... As soon as you kick (so to speak) the drum set and use something more subtle, more organic rhythms immediately suggest itself. 	This is really good...... Being an old drummer from the age of 10 now I'm 60, don't play much any more I do one track and my hands hurt for a week after, os now I just play guitar..... But this has flavour and style, the groove is pretty much on the money and I like the tasteful touch of chimes and nice airy vocals..... Very well done.....
