Description

Another few hours spent playing guitar! This time the chord structure is a bit more involved than "Guitars on a Rainy Day". Except for the bass, all tracks played on the Maton FG 100 (the FG stands for "Folk Guitar" - I bought it new in 1968!). The backings tracks (two fingerstyle, one strummed) are completely acoustic, using a mike to record them. One of the fingerstyle tracks is played in standard C chords, the other is played in G with a capo on the 5th fret. For the lead line, I plugged the guitar in using the Fishman pickup.

Franchise development...
Hi Philip. I can see a franchise developing here... Guitars on a misty day; Guitars on a partly cloudy day; Guitars on a day that starts out sunny but then clouds over.... I'll take 15% of the action as your manager and naming rights sponsor :-) But seriously, there is some very tasty work going on here. The harmonic opening is nice and the lead work is very much in sympathy with the backing tracks. Evocative listening and the Maton is sounding very nice indeed. Yes, I think I'll start work on "Guitars on a cloudy day with showers developing". At least it makes thinking of titles easy - I just check the weather report! I do like that Maton - was down at Cargill Guitars yesterday and James Cargill has talked to me about getting a pickup put in it - the new ones don't destroy the guitar the way they used to. I think I'll do it...
