Description
This is an idea that I wanted to try out. The speech is a speaking clock accessed over telephone, refered to as "Miss Watch" in Sweden. She tells the time in this track from 23:57:40 - 00:00.

It wasn't supposed to be as upbeat. My plan was to temporarily use a simple drum loop while it was put together and then do my own drums last, but it ended up being too entwined with the rest so I kept it.

This was a good exercise in sample chopping, editing as well as keeping myself in a shorter time frame of a song.

Electronic echo madness
But what great madness it was! really cool use of the echo and the sampling is cut just right, at the same time it makes you float away with the high synth that carries throughout, great song!

Very effective!
Rather reminded me of the soundtrack from "Blade Runner" but with a Swedish slant. Good build ups in this--thanks!

Like this
It's very well put together and most effective. Catchy too. I think though, it sounds too much like the start of something. You could easily extend this into a full blown trance epic. Well, maybe not easily! But that's how it sounds to me - like it should be much longer.

Real nice though, the delays are brilliant and there are some lovely touches throughout. An excellent mix as well. Nice one!

Dave
Thanks! I've thought about a longer version. The voice recording sort of dictated everything in this track, and I had to leave out many things. We'll see.

Chilled nicely!
Very cool track to chill too!! Love the lesson in time with Miss Watch, interesting use of her voice, (for me) almost reminiscent of the album computer world.

Thanks for sharing!

really nice track here - would have liked some panning reverb on the telephone vox at the beginning, but awesome all the same!

Hi aRcTip.......
Non, non, och non!!! This mix is brilliant. You've put this together very well. Very interesting. Each moment added to those that came before.

The backing was just perfect against the talking.

Excellent.

Take care.

What a great piece! Very downtempo, and I love all the tiny sounds you've crafted. That was a great idea using Miss Watch; I love the language. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Corporal!
I pondered briefly how the language would be recieved by non-swedes. Silly, laugh out-funny or possibly (and hopefully), a little oddly exotic? ;)

Min klocka går visst fel...
But the song is pretty cool. Who hasn't been thinking of using Fröken Ur in a song ;-) I know Vangelis did it (with an English speaking cousin) on an early album (Albedo?). I thought it would be too much "talking", but you've got it quite right, I think, and the music is very midnight-ish, so well done!

nice one
i really like this one a lot. i think the drum loop running the length of the song is perfect. i also saw the comment about how this should be longer; I actually think that it would be cool if you were to butt it up against a completely different song (maybe a slower one). would feel like it was longer but would be 2 separate songs. very nice track though, reminds me of the vibe of Royksopp for some reason.

M2!
Thanks for comment M2. I actually started an ambient version as a test with the voice recording so it might pop up again sometime. Based on your comments here I can tell you're a true music junkie, who's listened to a lot music from different genres. :)

I like the upbeat underneath your palette of cool sounds. I like the odd and interesting chordal pattern on the keys. Very enjoyable thru my phones this morning with my coffee.

Compelling for such a seemingly simple idea... which of course shows great craftsmanship in arranging and writing this. Very intriguing temporal journey.

Yeah man
I like this kind of ambient stuff. Good sounds used here. Has a pretty dark feel to me in a kind of dystopian way. Sometimes short songs do the trick and don't outstay their welcome. Downloaded.

Love the build and sounds
Hej! Understated, with a nice soundstage, clean and it pulls me in right from the start. The play between the voice and the musical accents is timed well - had to download it!

The voice does sound exotic
at least to this American :) I like the mix too. Big fan of chill. I never get to Sweden but my company's HQ is in Copenhagen so I do get close by. I'll set my watch next time I go! I think the mix is great - maybe some white noise or a sweeping pad would give it some more motion.

So cool.
This track is great! The time reading makes it more interesting, though without it's still an enticing song. I do like the drums you stuck with, though it would be cool to see what you originally intended. What software did you use for this?

delicious
This is a lovely track. I wouldn't call this upbeat, more moody but also very positive feeling, with a bit of nostalgia in there. Miss Watch is great, and I really love the synth that pulls it all together. This is quality!

What a cool idea for a track. I have respect for you for even imagining this as a basis for a track...really original. Glad you were able to learn a bit about sample chopping from this one (I really need to work on mine). Now I'm off to check out the rest of your tracks :)
