Description
I'm in a ukulele mood these days ... when I feel melancholy I reach for the uke. No guitars in this song. I have a few uke tracks, midi bass ,keys and nuances and some vocal tracks and it grew a bit bigger than I originally intended. I am always open for criticism.
I painted the picture of the window and the sea in acrylics on paper ...

Soothing the turbulence
You can get in a uke mood any time you like as far as I'm concerned. The playing blew me away at the start, but the rest of the tune is terrifically engaging and well put together in all its dimensions.

I remember growing up in Dartmouth that there was a program in the schools for teaching either band or uke. If you are a graduate of that program on the Halifax side then I'd say it was a resounding success!

Dloaded with thanks,
Doug

PS love the choice of art.

Hi Doug
I'm so glad you dropped by. I do believe they still have that program. I also know there is a uke club here that has grown quite large and is very popular. I never was part of a uke program but when I was ten I got one for my birthday and learned to play it quite quickly. That was a good transition to learning guitar for me but I always returned to the uke. Thanks for the compliments and for enjoying my painting!

Love this Stan, you have some serious Ukelele chops. Love how this sounds, I am going to take up the mandolin around xmas time and this is the kind of stuff I cant wait to have a crack at. Awesome job well done

Neil, thanks so much for the compliment. I always wanted to plat mandolin. I love the sound. It's tuned weird ... like a violin I believe. The uke is great for guitar players because it is very much like the first four strings on a guitar for chording.
Cheers Neil!

What criticism?
I dig this! Love the harmonies! Uke! What kind of percussion is that? Some sort of African drum? It's in a genre all it's own. Folk, jazz, ethnic? You are just wandering the genres... Exploration! I love it!

Inspirational
Hi Stan. Like the painting and love the intro. Your uke playing is inspirational. I might have to look at getting one. Love the vocal works as well. This is a joyous song that has some really interesting African and Middle Eastern influences. I can see how it grew bigger than you intended but it is all the better for it. Super post. Regards, Peter

Ukelele virtuoso ... and lovely art, too
A very interesting and entertaining ukelele tune, positively funky in a "uke" sort of way. And a very nice painting, too, that goes along with it perfectly.

such as these it is good to have another place to go in spirit to refresh. You are a virtuoso. Love the uplifting feel of this music and the airiness, too, as depicted by your painting. Thanks.

Extraordinary
You a depth of talent that is quite extraordinary. The ukulele playing is wonderful - lovely tone, interesting lines (the opening bars are stunning) and very dextrous (a surprise to me, as someone who tends to picture Tiny Tim when the word "ukulele" is used - I won't think that way from now on!). Beautiful, gentle vocal. Love the light and shade you have built into the production.

And I love the painting too.

Impressionistic!
A uked "La Mer" maybe? And original art to boot. Great sound and very well put together. I think in a few places some of the "wave sounds" wash over the vocals - but only noticed one or two instances. Very nice listen.

I just love the ukulele riff in the beginning and how the song fills up, becoming richer along the way, becoming something reminiscent of Heart and Led Zeppelin. All that lovely slidey uke playing makes me want to go out and find a ukelele - maybe I'll go dust off an old mandolin that I haven't played for years instead. And that instrumental bridge where the bass takes the ukulele somewhere different is delicious. Thanks again for the inspiration.
