1:53 That's where it definitely ceases to be renaissance.... The original bass line starts on A, implying A minor. Then a few variations later I throw an F under it, making it F major, then in the passage your remark on I throw a Bb under that, making it, eh, Bb maj7 which is anachronistic by several centuries. Bach uses it as a passing dissonant, but you probably have to wait until the mid 20th century before someone plonks down that chord as such. Check out my latest song called Fourth Candle

eight Voices go in and out a bit, but in the end it's two altos, three tenors, two basses, and a greatbass. None of those ugly sopranos. Even the altos are only used at the top of the arc. I like the lower instruments better. Check out my latest song called Fourth Candle

excellent not sure if I told you this, but I often listen to your music while I'm working. i find it conducive to thinking. anyways, this is lovely and i really like the whole recorder orchestra thing you're working. there's moments where you'll hit a chord and it's just a perfect sound. maybe I should try to learn a little theory myself. thanks. Very cool. Whoa, cows, cows. Everywhere a cow. Blockin' out the scen'ry. Breakin' my mind. Do this. Don't do that. Can't you see the cows? On a more serious note: this sounds like something I use to listen to as a child while watching The Friendly Giant. He would play this style of music and it was very very fascinating. Ahhh well if nothing else you have educated me as to why Vaquero is Spanish/Mexican for "Cowboy" but you have also enterrtained me with some very nice playing ......but tell me ....why are old folk song titles so bloody literal ...!!
