Description
Further adventures in live looping. One unedited performance using a Butch Hall flute in Dm, Boss RC-50 loop station, and Korg Pandora mini effects.

Plenty of technical problems with this one, but I liked the performance.

I have been considering the looping approach myself. This sounds great.

I don't hear any technical problems. The winds are lovely. How did you do the fuzzy bass lines? That was quite a surprising element!

fuzz
The bass is a synth patch on the Korg Pandora. It tracks my flute and converts it to s synth.

There is also a high synth which I think is a bit abbrassive. Towards the end there is a weird distortion that I have no idea where it comes from. And there is a lot of contact noise, probably because I use a clip-on microphone. I try to EQ it away in the beginning, but later I have to turn off that EQ to get the synth bass.

The only one I know who does this in live performance is Imogen Heap, while I'm not sure how this actually works I do like it...

i wish i understood what you're doing better victor - it sounds so interesting! if there are technical problems in here, they sure are subtle. i've loved every one of these loopy things you've posted - are you feeling more comfortable with it?

Gotta love live looping
it's always such a step into the void. I think this sounds great. I use an old Boomerang - but I've had my eye on the boss for a long time. Nice work here. The bass synth track is pretty interesting. You're right though - the high synth is a bit harsh.

RC-50
The unit I use is now discontinued. If you want one you need to find a store that has one in stock. The new models are more limited.

Some of this sounds like
human voices. I was picturing guys in lederhosen playing those long horns to each other on the tops of mountain peaks in the Alps. I do hear what you say is unwanted bits but the whole thing is so interesting, I didn't dwell on that. Cool. to the max. Thanks.

Fascinating
I must admit I find this piece more interesting technically than musically, just to hear the way the different elements affect the overall sound. I do like to hear people exploring music! However, I also think there's some lovely woodwind sounds in there that wold be beautiful if just played on their own, perhaps with a simple backing from another instrument?

This is so peaceful...I feel as though I should be out in the middle of a meadow somewhere sitting under a tree listening to this. Thank you for bringing a quiet time to me.
