Description
probably should save this for the word association challenge as I based it on the word Breaking, but I was in a mood; mixed it and now i'm posting it. i'll just write another for the challenge. It's basically about all of those relationships that you can get in; they're not horrible at all, but they're not really going anywhere.
everything was done in Logic, all of the ambience was either the ES2 or parts of the vocals that I stretched out so that they were just weird sounding pads. I used a demo of a new plugin called relectro on the percussion. it takes things and changes the waveforms so they sound really different. I also used it on the synth in the bridge.
this is an homage to old 80's ands that I like: the Human League, Soft Cell, and Wire, although it's a lot more pop than those bands usually got. Particle Dots helped me out with an initial listening and the following advice:
"a great start...and my oblique inclination for you is to focus on the plastic
try to make it even more synthetic than it already is
its not synthetic enough
plastic is perfect
plastic is king"

Oh my goodness, you've stolen the song I was working on for the challenge! But all seriousness aside, Michael, I really enjoyed listening to this--I think it's a style of rock that agrees with me very much. This sounds like it should be on the radio and while this "plastic" style might work better, to me it sounds just great as is; I like the textured feeling this has. All around great recording/mix, song and performance. I'd be hard pressed to offer any suggestions, it's just plain perfect. Thanks for sharing this! Michael
