Description
Funk is a bit out of my comfort zone. I didn't listen to it much when I was growing up. But when JD put out the challenge earlier in the year, I thought it would be good to give it the old college try.
Philip18 came on board with some tasty funk bass for the song and I put the rest together. Thanks Phil.
Here 'tis.

Lyrics
But I Can’t Live Without You… (Peter Bowen – 2011)
Girl you’ve got me moving
Chasin’ after you
‘Bout time that we were groovin’
Or are you not being true
Deep inside I feel I’m sinkin’
I’ve been doing too much thinkin’
How could I live without you?
Why can’t you be satisfied?
With one good man at home
Seems like I can’t leave you be
For one night on your own
Our back door, it’s always creakin’
Through the yard I hear you sneakin’
Your cover’s long been blown
Babe, I bought you diamonds
You know I bought you pearls
I’d give you anything
You asked for in this world
Why makes you stray from home?
And leave me on the shelf?
I bet you’d do a number
On the devil himself
Break
Babe, I bought you diamonds
You know, I bought you pearls
I’d give you anything
You asked for in this world
Why makes you stray from home?
And leave me on the shelf?
I bet you’d do a number
On the devil himself
Girl you’ve still got me moving
Still chasin’ after you
Been a while since we were groovin’
And you’re still not being true
Deep inside I’m still sinkin’
I’m still doing too much thinkin’
But I can’t live without you…
Girl you’ve got me moving
Chasin’ after you
‘Bout time that we were groovin’
Or are you not being true
Deep inside I feel I’m sinkin’
I’ve been doing too much thinkin’
How could I live without you?
Why can’t you be satisfied?
With one good man at home
Seems like I can’t leave you be
For one night on your own
Our back door, it’s always creakin’
Through the yard I hear you sneakin’

It was probably the only other kind of music I enjoyed outside of the old big band records I listened to growing up (Motown was salvation for me back then!) I loved this--your lyrics are blues-ish in nature, which is just where funk was derived from over the year--excellent work there and that's just for starters. As always your guitar work just glows brightly and this is one of your best vocals ever. Outstanding! Phil's bass is a knockout--almost forgot to give him a credit too (forgive me, it's late!)
